Measuring Guide for Lockdown Springs
To ensure you select the correct lockdown spring for your recliner, please refer to our measuring guide for a diagram to help you identify the exact specifications needed for your replacement spring. If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to contact our support team.
117mm Recliner Lockdown Springs - Standard and Heavy Gauge Options
Repair your manual recliner with our 117mm Lockdown Springs, designed to lock and hold the footrest securely in the closed position. When you close your footrest and hear that “click,” that’s the lockdown spring engaging to keep your footrest firmly closed. If your footrest keeps bouncing open or won’t stay closed, it’s likely due to a worn or broken lockdown spring.
Our lockdown springs are available in two wire gauges to suit your preference:
- 117mm Standard Lockdown Spring: Features a 2.1mm wire gauge and comes with a red foam insert. Found on most modern recliners.
- 117mm Heavy Gauge Lockdown Spring: Features a thicker 2.4mm wire gauge and a yellow foam insert. Found on older model recliner and cross-compatible for anyone wanting a stronger replacement.
Both springs are interchangeable and fit the mechanism the same way, allowing you to choose based on your preference for strength and durability.

How To
How To
1, Lay a drop sheet on the floor and carefully turn the recliner over on its side or front, please remember safe lifting techniques.
2, Locate where the original spring currently fits or if it has broken off check another chair for comparison.
3, Open the footrest of the recliner using the normal side lever/handle. (Pinch point hazard mind fingers and clothing don’t get trapped in the recliner)
4, Use a pair of pliers or similar to remove the old spring.
5, Then using the replacement spring locate the first hole nearest the seat frame and hook the spring on.
6, Use the tool to stretch the second spring hook into the correct hole on the leg rest metal plate, there maybe several holes to choose from so look for the hole with signs of wear, this will be the one to use. (Mind out the spring will be loaded and powerful)
7, Manually close the recliner footrest and make sure its locked closed. If it doesn’t lock shut adjust or change the position of the spring until it does lock.
8, Carefully turn the recliner back over to the standard position.
9, Fully test the recliner.
