Description

4-Button Straight 5 Pin Recliner Handset – DL-SK-054-09 Replacement

Restore full control to your dual-motor recliner or lift chair with our DL-SK-054-09 4-button handset. The moulded ABS wand features intuitive momentary ▲ ▼ buttons for each actuator, giving you fine, real-time positioning of the backrest and footrest without the “one-press runaway” found on six-button remotes. Supplied with a straight male 5 pin DIN plug, a 1.3 m lead with part-coiled section that stretches as the chair moves, and a removable storage hook that slips into the side pocket bracket already on your chair.

Universal Fit for Two-Actuator Control Boxes

This remote is plug-and-play with control boxes from Okin, Kaidi, TiMotion, CN Doer, Limoss and most brands that use the standard 240° 5 pin DIN socket for dual motors. It directly replaces handsets stamped DL-SK-054-02, -04, -06, or Okin B12093YA16J (you will simply lose the auto-open / auto-close macros). Check that your existing plug has 5 pins—this unit is not suitable for single-motor chairs or La-Z-Boy proprietary 8 pin systems. If you need help matching part numbers or confirming compatibility, contact our support team any time.

Quality Spare Parts from Sofa Rehab

As Australia’s leading supplier of repair kits and spare parts, we source genuine or OEM-spec components that meet strict durability standards. Every handset is bench-tested before dispatch and backed by our 12-month warranty for peace of mind. Buying individual components, rather than a full control set, keeps e-waste down and saves you money.

Save Time & Money – Do It Yourself

Swapping a handset is one of the quickest recliner fixes you can do yourself: unclip the pocket hook, unplug the old DIN, push the new plug home, and pop the hook back—no tools required, typically under two minutes. Follow our step-by-step video tutorials and feel the satisfaction of a job well done. If questions pop up, phone, email or live-chat with our friendly technicians; we are always happy to guide you through your DIY repair.

Installation Guide – DL-SK-054-09 Handset

  1. Switch the recliner or lift chair OFF at the wall and unplug the power supply. Wait 60 seconds for any stored charge to discharge.
  2. Find the old handset lead in the side pocket and trace it under the seat to the control-box socket.
  3. Release the latch (or twist the locking collar) and pull the 5-pin DIN plug straight out.
  4. Route the new cable along the same path, clear of moving parts and sharp edges. Use existing clips or cable ties where possible.
  5. Line up the DIN keyway and push the plug fully home until it clicks into place.
  6. Snap the removable storage hook into the fabric pocket and dock the handset.
  7. Reconnect mains power and test every ▲ ▼ button to confirm smooth, independent movement of the backrest and footrest.

Safe-Use & Lifting Tips

  • Keep hands, pets and loose objects clear of the mechanism before pressing any button.
  • Always sit back in the chair before using Lift ▲; do not place weight on the footrest alone.
  • Use short presses for fine positioning—release the button immediately if you feel obstruction or hear unusual noises.
  • Ensure the floor in front of the chair is clear before lifting to a standing position.
  • Switch off and unplug the chair before cleaning, moving furniture or performing any additional maintenance.
  • If the handset or chair stops responding, cease operation and contact Sofa Rehab support for guidance.

DIY repairs are quick, cost-effective and satisfying when done safely. If you are unsure about any step, our technicians are just a phone call or live-chat away.

FAQs

FAQs

Will this 4-button handset work on my chair if the original remote had six buttons?

Yes—provided the original six-button remote had a straight or right-angle 5-pin DIN plug and controlled two separate motors. You’ll lose the one-touch “full open/close” macros, but all normal up/down functions for the backrest and footrest still operate exactly the same.

How do I know if my recliner uses a 5-pin or an 8-pin plug?

Unplug the chair from the wall, trace the handset lead to the control box, and count the metal pins on the plug. Five evenly-spaced pins in a 240° arc = compatible. Eight pins in two offset rows = not compatible with this model.

Do I need an extension lead as well?

Possibly if the 1.3mtr code is not long enough you can add an extension lead.

Do I need any special tools to install it?

No tools are required. Simply unplug the old handset’s DIN plug, push the new one into the same socket, and clip the holster back into the pocket. The whole job takes about two minutes.

Can this remote be used on a single-motor recliner or lift chair?

No. Single-motor furniture uses a two-button handset wired differently inside. This 4-button model is strictly for dual-actuator chairs with independent backrest and footrest motors.

Who makes this remote controller?

This is made by CN Doer who are a reputable manufacturer of recliner electronics.

What if the new handset doesn’t move one of the motors?

First double-check the DIN plug is fully seated. If one motor still won’t drive, swap the ports on the control box—if the fault follows the port, the control box or motor may be at fault. If problems persist, contact Sofa Rehab support for troubleshooting; the handset is covered by a 12-month warranty.

Sofa Rehab

Swapped out a motor controller of our King Living recliner at probably half the cost of the call out fee of the sofa company. Will definitely come back if I need any parts.

The product is the same as the original. Easy to install and great fast service from Sofa Rehab. The coiled plastic on the original part was disintegrating exposing the wires and now with the new control part the chair is as good as new!!

I was desperate when my lift-chair stopped working, due to chronic back issues. I worked out it was the hand control but nothing was available locally. So onto Google and I came across SOFA REHAB! They had the exact part I needed at a very reasonable price, the virtual chat was exceptionally helpful and postage was super quick!
