How To Install the Kaidi KDPT010-101 Headrest Actuator
Replacing your electric recliner’s headrest actuator is straightforward and can be completed at home with just basic tools. Follow the steps below to safely and successfully install your new actuator.
- Unplug the Recliner: Disconnect the power supply from the wall socket before beginning any repair work.
- Practise Safe Lifting: If you need to tip the recliner onto its side or move it, ask for help if the chair is heavy and always use safe lifting techniques to avoid injury.
- Take Before Photos: Use your phone to take clear photos of the actuator, connections and mounting points. These will help you remember how everything fits back together.
- Disconnect the Old Actuator: Locate the KDPT010-101 headrest actuator and unplug the coiled 2-pin connector from the footrest actuator. Remove the actuator rod and R-clip from the motor housing end.
- Unbolt the White Block: Using a screwdriver or socket, remove the 4 bolts holding the white block of the actuator in place. Keep these bolts as you will reuse them.
- Install the New Actuator: Position the new KDPT010-101 actuator in place. Secure the white block using the 4 original bolts and reinsert the actuator rod with the R-clip at the motor housing end.
- Reconnect the Plug: Attach the 2-pin male plug and coiled cord to the footrest actuator as per your before-photos.
- Test the Recliner: Return the recliner to its normal position, plug the power supply back into the wall socket and test the headrest function to ensure smooth operation.
