How To Install Your Okin JLDQ.12.157.333H Recliner Actuator
- Unplug the Recliner
Always disconnect the chair from mains power before beginning. This prevents accidental activation and keeps you safe while working. - Position the Recliner Safely
Tip the recliner gently onto its side or back to access the underside. Use safe lifting techniques — bend your knees, not your back — and ask for help if the chair is heavy. - Take a Picture First
Before removing the actuator, take a clear photo of how it’s installed and where the plugs are connected. This will help guide you during reassembly. - Disconnect the Cables
Locate the actuator’s control plug (female 5-pin DIN) and the power plug (male 2-pin). Disconnect both by gently pulling the connectors apart without forcing or twisting them. - Remove Fixings
Unscrew or unbolt the actuator’s front and rear fixings. Keep all screws, bolts, or clevis pins in a safe place — you’ll need them for reinstallation. - Install the New Actuator
Position the new actuator into the same place as the old one. Align the clevis rod hole and front fixing bolts with the brackets on your recliner frame. - Secure Fixings
Refit the bolts, screws, or pins, ensuring the actuator is firmly secured at both ends. Do not overtighten — firm and secure is enough. - Reconnect the Cables
Plug the 2-pin power lead into the transformer cable and connect the 5-pin DIN plug into the handset/control box as per your photo reference. - Return the Recliner to Upright
Carefully lift the recliner back to its upright position, again using safe lifting techniques or with help from another person. - Test the Operation
Reconnect the chair to mains power and test the actuator by using the handset. Ensure the movement is smooth, quiet, and the full range of motion works properly.
⚠️ Safety Reminder: Always keep hands, pets, and children away from moving parts during testing. If you feel resistance or hear unusual noises, stop immediately and recheck the installation.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if this actuator is the correct replacement for my recliner?
Check the model number printed on your old actuator. If it says JLDQ.12.157.333H, this is the exact replacement. If your number is slightly different (e.g. 333L), please contact us and we can confirm compatibility.
What tools do I need to install the actuator?
Only basic tools are required, usually a socket set and possibly pliers for the fixing points. No special equipment is needed, and we provide step-by-step instructions and video tutorials to guide you.
Is it safe to install this actuator myself?
Yes, it’s designed for DIY replacement. Always unplug your recliner from mains power before starting, use safe lifting techniques, and take a photo of the old installation before removing it.
What do the measurements mean (533mm, 333mm, 157mm)?
The 533mm is the installed length (from bolt centre to clevis hole centre), 333mm is the stroke (the travel distance), and 157mm is the minimum retracted length. Measuring your old actuator will confirm if this is the right fit.
What does the duty cycle of 1 minute ON / 18 minutes OFF mean?
It means the actuator can be used continuously for up to 1 minute, then must rest for 18 minutes to avoid overheating. This is normal for recliner actuators and ensures long-term reliability.
