Quality Spare Parts from Sofa Rehab

We stock both genuine OEM and carefully vetted generic components because we believe in your right to repair. Each foundation socket is batch-tested to meet Australian 250 V / 2.5 A safety standards and carries ERAC certification. By replacing only the failed socket (not the whole transformer set) you save money and reduce e-waste—exactly why we work with suppliers willing to sell unbundled components.

Save Time & Money and Do It Yourself

Replacing this socket takes under ten minutes with only a Phillips-head screwdriver—no prior experience needed. Follow our step-by-step tutorial or watch the video in the “How To” tab, then sit back and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.

How To Replace the RMT RK23300112X000 DC Power Socket

Safety first: Disconnect the chair from mains power before you begin. Allow a few minutes for any stored charge in the transformer to dissipate. Use safe lifting techniques (bend your knees, keep your back straight) and get a second person to help tip or move the chair if needed.

Take a photo before you start. A quick photo of the existing socket, cable routing, and plugs will make reassembly simple and help you match orientation and wiring.

Tools & What’s Included

  • Included: DC power socket foundation with 490 mm output lead (female 2-pin plug). Mounting screws are not supplied.
  • You’ll need: Phillips screwdriver, small flat screwdriver (optional for tabs), torch, and a clean container for old screws.

Fitment Notes

  • Mounting: Flush-mount with 2 screws to the rear of the arm carcass.
  • Face shape/size: Diamond front plate ~58.48 mm long; ~48.43 mm widest; ~30 mm narrowest.
  • Cut-out required: 47 mm (tall) × 27 mm (wide) × 63 mm (deep).
  • Connectors: Input 2-pin male on the foundation (accepts transformer plug with locking buckle tabs). Output 2-pin female plug on the attached 490 mm lead.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Unplug from the wall. Remove the AC plug from the mains outlet. If your transformer has a battery backup, remove the batteries.
  2. Access the socket. Gently tilt the chair onto its side (use safe lifting techniques and a helper). Locate the diamond-shaped power socket at the rear of the arm carcass.
  3. Document the setup. Take a clear photo of the socket, screw positions, and the cable routing to the motor/junction box.
  4. Disconnect the transformer lead. Press the locking buckle tabs and pull the 2-pin transformer plug straight out of the socket’s input.
  5. Unscrew the old socket. Remove the two mounting screws and slide the old socket body out of the cut-out.
  6. Unplug the output lead. Trace the existing output lead to the motor/junction box and unplug the 2-pin connector. Note the routing and any clips.
  7. Prepare the new socket. Feed the new socket’s output lead (female 2-pin) through the frame along the original path to the motor/junction box.
  8. Reconnect the output. Push the 2-pin female plug into the matching male on the motor/junction box until fully seated.
  9. Seat the socket body. Insert the new socket into the 47 mm × 27 mm cut-out, ensuring the ON/OFF switch faces outward and sits level.
  10. Secure the socket. Use two suitable wood/metal screws (not supplied) to fasten the front plate flush to the arm carcass. Do not overtighten.
  11. Connect the transformer. Insert the transformer’s 2-pin plug into the socket’s input until the locking buckle tabs click.
  12. Function test. Return the chair upright. Plug into the wall. Switch the socket to ON (the switch will illuminate) and test recline functions. Switch OFF when finished.
  • Cut-out too small: Verify dimensions; carefully enlarge the opening to 47 mm × 27 mm × 63 mm depth if required.
  • The illuminated switch lights when ON. Switch OFF to isolate power when the chair is not in use.

    FAQs

    FAQs

Will this fit my recliner chair?

Yes, this socket is the most widely used DC power foundation in motion furniture. It directly replaces models 23300112X000, RK23300112X000, and 23200027X000. Simply check that your existing socket has the same diamond-shaped face, two mounting screws, and standard 2-pin (round + flat) plug connection.

Do I need an electrician, or can I fit it myself?

It’s designed as a straightforward DIY job—two screws and a push-in low-voltage plug. Provided you disconnect the chair from mains power first and follow the step-by-step guide, no electrical licence is required in Australia. If you’re uncomfortable lifting the chair or working around wiring, you’re welcome to engage a professional, but most customers complete the install in under ten minutes.

Does it come with mounting screws?

No, mounting screws are not supplied because recliner manufacturers use varying screw lengths and thread types. You can reuse your original screws or use small wood or metal screws suited to your frame.

How do I know if my transformer will plug into this socket?

If your transformer output lead has a 2-pin “OI” style plug with locking buckle tabs, it will plug directly into this socket. The built-in male plug on the foundation accepts that common connector and delivers 29 V DC to your chair’s motor or junction box.

The switch lights up – is that normal?

Yes. The built-in power switch will illuminate when in the ON position to show that power is active. Switching it OFF will isolate the power supply and is recommended when the recliner is not in use.

The product is the same as the original. Easy to install and great fast service from Sofa Rehab. The coiled plastic on the original part was disintegrating exposing the wires and now with the new control part the chair is as good as new!!

Needed an extension cable for my electric La Z Boy sofa. The local La Z Boy store doesn’t sell them. Thankfully, these guys do and they shipped it very quickly. Awesome!

Just what I needed. My local La-Z-Boy store (where I bought my sofa) apparently doesn't sell extension leads but we're happy to sell me some internal power source for $150 or something. Thankfully, Sofa Rehab had this which was all l needed and they shipped it so quickly!
