How To Install the C13 Power Socket

Replacing your recliner’s power inlet socket is a simple DIY task that requires only a screwdriver. Before you begin, unplug the recliner from the wall and allow a moment for any stored charge to dissipate. We also recommend **taking a clear photo of your existing wiring connections** before removing anything so you can easily reference it during reassembly.

Step-By-Step Instructions

1. Disconnect the power Ensure the recliner is fully unplugged from the mains outlet. Never work on electrical components while power is connected.

Access the rear arm carcass
Carefully tip the recliner onto its side, using safe lifting practices and keeping your back straight. Ensure the chair is supported and stable before you start working underneath it.

Locate the old power socket
Find the existing inlet module mounted in the arm frame. It will be secured with two screws and connected to the internal wiring harness.

Take a photo of the wiring
Before disconnecting anything, take a clear photo of the wiring layout. This helps ensure the new part is installed exactly the same way.

Remove the old socket
Unscrew the two mounting screws and gently push the unit out of the cut-out. Disconnect the figure-8 cable and any other attached connectors.

Fit the new power socket
Connect the new socket’s figure-8 plug to the recliner’s internal power module or transformer. Align the socket with the 30 × 50 mm cut-out and push it into place.

Secure the module
Use the supplied screws to fasten the socket back into the arm carcass. Do not overtighten—just firm enough to hold it securely.

Return the recliner to upright position
Carefully lift and rotate the recliner back to its normal position, again using safe lifting techniques.

Reconnect the mains power
Plug the recliner back into the wall outlet and test the illuminated ON/OFF switch to confirm everything is functioning properly.

FAQs

FAQs

How do I know if this C13 socket is the correct replacement for my recliner?

Check whether your existing power inlet has a male C13 connection on the foundation and a figure-8 cable leading to the recliner’s internal power module. If it matches this layout and the socket fits a 30 × 50 mm cut-out, this is the correct replacement. If unsure, send us a photo and we’ll help identify the right part.

Does this power socket work with all electric recliners?

It suits many electric recliners, theatre lounges and chairs that use a C13 inlet and figure-8 output cable. Some models use different plug types or control boxes, so it’s always best to confirm before ordering.

Do I need any special tools to install this replacement?

No special tools are required. A standard screwdriver is all you need to remove the old socket and install the new one. We recommend taking a photo before starting to make reconnection easy.

What are the two fuses for?

One glass fuse is pre-installed to protect your recliner’s electrical system, and a spare fuse is included inside the module. If the recliner suddenly loses power, the fuse may have blown and can be replaced by opening the fuse holder.

Can I replace this part myself safely?

Absolutely. Just unplug your recliner before starting, take a photo of the cable connections for reference, and follow our step-by-step guide. Always lift or tilt the chair using safe lifting techniques — bend your knees and keep your back straight.

The product is the same as the original. Easy to install and great fast service from Sofa Rehab. The coiled plastic on the original part was disintegrating exposing the wires and now with the new control part the chair is as good as new!!

Just what I needed. My local La-Z-Boy store (where I bought my sofa) apparently doesn't sell extension leads but we're happy to sell me some internal power source for $150 or something. Thankfully, Sofa Rehab had this which was all l needed and they shipped it so quickly!
