Oval 2 Pin Electric Recliner Foundation Socket – eMoMo E50E
This eMoMo E50E foundation socket is a universal replacement power-input module used in many electric recliners, lift chairs, and powered sofas. Installed into the rear of the arm or seat frame, it provides the inlet connection point between your recliner’s external transformer and internal electronics. The oval face plate measures 50mm wide and 33mm deep, and fits into a 23mm round cut-out in the furniture frame. The attached 530mm cable features a female OI 2 pin Hi-Fi connector with retaining clasp, while the internal side of the foundation contains the matching male OI connector. It accepts OI male plugs with or without retaining lugs and includes the two screws required for installation.
How to Confirm You Have the Correct E50E Foundation
To easily identify this part, check the barcode printed on your existing foundation. If the code begins with SE:E50E or WT:E50E, this is the correct replacement. You can also confirm compatibility by checking that your furniture uses the industry-standard OI 2 pin Hi-Fi connector (round pin + flat pin). If your recliner’s transformer lead currently connects into an oval face plate socket of this shape and size, then this replacement will be a direct fit.
Looking for the Opposite Plug Version?
Some recliners use the same oval foundation but with the plugs reversed. If the female OI 2 pin connector is inside the foundation fascia and the male OI connector with retaining lugs is at the cable end, then you need the E50EF version instead. We stock the E50EF, which is otherwise identical in size, shape, and mounting. See the E50EF opposite-plug foundation (click here) if this matches your existing setup.

How To Install the eMoMo E50E Power Foundation
Replacing the E50E power foundation is a straightforward DIY repair that most people can complete with just a screwdriver.
Follow the steps below carefully, and if you are unsure at any stage, please contact us for guidance.
Before You Start
- Unplug from the wall: Always disconnect the recliner from the mains power socket before starting any work.
- Allow time for power to discharge: Wait a few minutes after unplugging so any stored power in the system can dissipate.
- Use safe lifting practices: Recliners can be heavy and awkward to move. Get someone to help you, bend at the knees and keep your back straight when tilting or lifting the chair.
- Take a picture before you start: Use your phone to take clear photos of the existing foundation and cable connections. This makes it easier to refer back during reassembly.
- Tools required: A Phillips head screwdriver is usually all that is needed. Pliers are optional if you prefer extra grip on the old screws.
Step 1: Access the Existing Power Foundation
- Unplug the recliner from the wall socket and move the chair away from the wall to give yourself room to work.
- Carefully tip the recliner onto its side or front, using safe lifting practices and assistance if needed, so you can access the rear of the arm or seat frame.
- Locate the existing oval power foundation socket on the frame. This is where the external transformer lead plugs into the chair.
- Take a clear photo of the existing foundation, the way the cable is routed, and how it is plugged into the chair electronics.
Step 2: Remove the Old Foundation
- Disconnect the external transformer lead from the front of the old foundation socket.
- Locate the two mounting screws that hold the old foundation in place and remove them with your screwdriver.
- Gently pull the old foundation out of the 23 mm round hole in the frame so you can see the cable and rear plug.
- Follow the cable to where it connects into the chair electronics and carefully unplug the female 2 pin OI plug.
Refer to your photo if needed to note how it was routed and connected.
Step 3: Prepare and Fit the New E50E Foundation
- Take your new E50E power foundation and check that the oval facia size and 2 pin OI connectors match your old part.
- Route the new cable through the same path as the original cable, avoiding sharp edges and moving parts.
- Plug the new female 2 pin OI Hi-Fi connector into the same socket on the recliner electronics where the old plug was removed.
- Gently pull any excess slack back towards the frame so the cable sits neatly and does not get pinched by the mechanism.
Step 4: Mount the New Foundation in the Frame
- Position the new oval facia so it sits neatly in the existing 23 mm round hole in the frame.
- Align the mounting holes in the facia with the screw holes in the frame.
- Use the two new screws supplied with the foundation to secure it in place. Tighten the screws firmly, but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the plastic facia.
- Check that the front socket sits flush and is stable when you gently press around the edges.
Step 5: Reconnect and Test
- Return the recliner carefully to its normal position, using safe lifting practices and help from another person if needed.
- Plug the transformer OI lead into the new female 2 pin OI socket. The foundation will accept OI male plugs with or without retaining lugs.
- Plug the transformer power cord back into the wall socket.
- Operate the recliner to confirm that power is restored and the connection feels secure when you gently wiggle the plug at the foundation.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if this E50E foundation is the correct replacement for my recliner?
The easiest way is to check the barcode or label on your existing foundation. If it starts with SE:E50E or WT:E50E, this is the correct part. You can also match the connector type — the E50E uses the standard 2 pin OI Hi-Fi plug (one round pin, one flat pin). If you’re unsure, send us a photo and we’ll confirm it for you.
Will this socket work with my existing transformer power supply?
Yes. The E50E uses the industry-standard 2 pin OI female connection, which accepts any OI male plug (with or without retaining lugs). This covers the majority of modern electric recliner power supplies used across popular brands.
Do I need any special tools or experience to install this?
No. Installation is DIY-friendly and requires only a Phillips head screwdriver. Just unplug the recliner, remove the old foundation, route the new cable, and secure the facia using the supplied screws. Our step-by-step instructions make the process quick and simple.
What part of the recliner does this install into?
The E50E foundation is typically mounted into the rear of the arm frame or under the seat base. It fits through a 23mm round hole in the recliner’s wooden frame, with the oval facia sitting flush on the outside.
Can I replace this part myself safely?
Absolutely. Just unplug your recliner before starting, take a photo of the cable connections for reference, and follow our step-by-step guide. Always lift or tilt the chair using safe lifting techniques — bend your knees and keep your back straight.
