How to Replace the Okin JLDK.38.04.33 Lift Chair Remote
Replacing this Lan Franco lift chair remote is a straightforward plug-and-play repair. No programming, specialised tools or electrical experience is required.
Before You Begin
- Confirm your original remote is marked with the complete model number JLDK.38.04.33.
- Check that the button layout and round 5-pin plug match the replacement remote.
- Keep the chair’s existing locking buckle, as a replacement buckle is not included.
- Move the chair to a stable position and ensure nobody is sitting in it during replacement.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Disconnect the chair from power.
Switch the power off at the wall outlet and unplug the lift chair’s transformer before working on the remote connection. - Locate the remote connection.
Follow the cable from the existing handset to where its round plug connects to the chair’s wiring. This connection may be underneath or behind the chair. - Release the locking buckle.
Carefully unclip the chair’s existing locking buckle from the locating pegs on the remote plug. Retain the buckle for use with the replacement handset. - Disconnect the original remote.
Hold both sides of the plug connection and gently pull them apart. Pull from the plug housings rather than the cables to avoid damaging the wiring. - Connect the replacement remote.
Align the pins and locating guide on the new round 5-pin plug with the chair connection. Push the plugs together firmly without twisting or forcing them. - Refit the locking buckle.
Secure the chair’s existing locking buckle over the locating pegs to prevent the connection from separating during use. - Position the remote cable.
Route the cable away from the lift mechanism, actuator, frame joints and other moving components. Make sure the cable cannot become pinched, stretched or caught when the chair moves. - Reconnect the chair to power.
Plug the transformer back into the wall outlet and switch the power on. - Test every function.
With the area around the chair clear, test the backrest up, backrest recline, stand-up and close/down buttons individually. Check that the chair moves in the direction shown on each button. - Test the USB charging port.
Connect a compatible device to the USB-A port and press the centre USB on/off button to confirm that charging switches on and off correctly.
Important Safety Information
Keep hands, cables, pets and objects clear of the chair’s moving mechanism while testing it. Do not force the 5-pin connection or continue using the chair if its wiring, plug or locking buckle appears damaged. Contact Sofa Rehab if you need help confirming compatibility or completing the replacement.

FAQs
FAQs
Will this remote fit my Lan Franco lift chair?
This remote is only suitable as a replacement for an existing Okin Refined JLDK.38.04.33 remote controller. Before ordering, confirm the complete model number, five-button layout and round 5-pin plug match your original Lan Franco lift chair remote.
Is JLDK-38 the correct model number for this remote?
JLDK-38 identifies the broader Okin handset family and does not confirm compatibility by itself. Your original remote must show the complete model number JLDK.38.04.33. Other JLDK-38 remotes may have different plugs, buttons or operating functions.
What do the five buttons on the Lan Franco remote control?
The top two buttons raise and recline the backrest. The second-row buttons lift the chair into the standing position and lower or close the chair. The centre button switches the USB-A charging port on and off.
Does this lift chair remote have USB charging?
Yes. The handset includes a built-in USB-A charging port with a 5V DC, 2A output. Connect a compatible charging cable and use the centre button to switch USB power on or off.
Can I replace the JLDK.38.04.33 remote myself?
Yes. This Okin lift chair remote is a plug-and-play replacement that requires no programming or specialised tools. Disconnect the chair from power, remove the original 5-pin remote and connect the replacement. Retain the chair’s existing locking buckle because a new buckle is not included.
