How To Install the Kaidi KDH134R-001 Recliner Switch
Replacing the Kaidi KDH134R-001 recliner switch is a simple do-it-yourself repair for most electric recliner chairs, sofas and theatre lounges. Before you begin, unplug the recliner power supply from the wall and take a clear photo of the existing switch, wiring and plug connections for reference.
If you need to move or tilt the furniture to access the wiring, always use safe lifting techniques. Recliners and lounges can be heavy, so ask another person to help if needed and avoid twisting your back while lifting or moving the furniture.
- Disconnect the power. Unplug the recliner transformer from the wall socket before working on any cables or switch components.
- Take a reference photo. Photograph the current switch, cable routing and plug connections before removing anything. This gives you an easy guide when fitting the new switch.
- Move the recliner into position. Carefully move the chair or lounge away from the wall so you have enough room to work safely.
- Access the wiring. If needed, gently tilt the furniture onto its side or back to access the underside and internal wiring. Use proper lifting technique and get help from another person for heavier furniture.
- Remove the screw cover. Carefully remove the nickel screw cover from the existing switch to expose the 2 mounting screws.
- Unscrew the old switch. Remove the 2 screws holding the switch in place, then gently pull the switch and wiring forward from the armrest cut-out.
- Disconnect the old wiring harnesses. Unplug the existing harness connections while comparing them to your reference photo. Do not pull on the wires themselves. Hold the plug body when disconnecting each cable.
- Connect the new switch. Plug the wiring harnesses into the new Kaidi KDH134R-001 switch, making sure each connection is fully seated and correctly aligned.
- Check the cable position. Feed the wiring back into the arm cavity carefully, making sure no cables are pinched, stretched, twisted or trapped behind the switch body.
- Secure the new switch. Place the switch into the cut-out and fasten it with the 2 mounting screws. Do not overtighten the screws.
- Refit the screw cover. Clip the removable screw cover back into position so the fascia has a neat finished appearance.
- Reconnect and test. Plug the recliner power supply back into the wall socket and test all 4 buttons, including footrest/recline and headrest movement. You can also test the USB-A charging port with a suitable USB cable.
If the recliner does not operate correctly after installation, disconnect the power again and check that all plug connections are fully inserted and matched to the correct wiring harness. If you are unsure whether this is the right replacement switch for your recliner, contact Sofa Rehab and we can help you identify the correct part.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if this recliner switch is compatible with my lounge or chair?
The best way is to compare your existing model number, plug configuration, button layout and measurements with this replacement. This switch uses the model numbers KDH134R-001 and MOT-TS-99R and is designed for dual actuator recliners with independent headrest and recline movement. If you are unsure, send us photos of your existing switch and plugs and we can help identify the correct replacement.
What does “left hand operated” mean?
This switch is installed into the left hand side armrest when sitting in the recliner. The manufacturer may also describe this as a right side fitted or “RSF” switch because it is referenced from facing the furniture externally.
Does this switch include the wiring harnesses?
Yes. The switch includes both wiring harnesses shown in the product images, including the white system plug lead with control box and the black lead with 5 pin male DIN plug and retaining pegs.
Can I replace this recliner switch myself?
Yes, for most recliners this is a straightforward DIY repair requiring only a screwdriver. The switch uses plug together wiring connections and can usually be installed within 10 to 15 minutes. We recommend taking a photo of the existing wiring before removal for reference during installation.
Does the USB port work for charging phones and tablets?
Yes. This switch features a USB-A charging port, making it suitable for charging most modern phones, tablets and USB powered devices while relaxing in your recliner.
