Description

Universal IEC Power Entry Socket with Illuminated Switch – MLCZ002-6

Restore safe, reliable mains power to any electric recliner, lift chair or home-theatre lounge with this genuine Mulin MLCZ002-6 power-entry socket. The black plastic faceplate houses a standard IEC C14 three-pin inlet and a red illuminated rocker switch so users can isolate the chair when it is not in use. A factory-fitted fuse protects the electronics (1 x spare fuse supplied), while the permanently attached 580 mm lead terminates in the industry-standard 2-pin figure-8 (OI) plug that connects directly to your 29 V transformer or junction box. No soldering required—just two screws and a push-in plug make this a quick, tidy DIY swap.

Check Your Plate Size & Lead Length Before Ordering

Before you add to cart, measure your existing socket to confirm the 88 mm (W) × 58 mm (H) face-plate matches the cut-out in your furniture. Ensure you have at least 580 mm of cable run from the socket recess to the transformer harness; if your chair needs a shorter or longer lead, browse our full range of power sockets & leads (click here) or ask us for guidance. The attached lead finishes in a figure-8 plug—if your transformer uses a round-to-flat two-pin IO connector, you’ll need a separate DC cable instead.

Quality Spare Parts from Sofa Rehab

We stock both genuine OEM and carefully vetted generic components because we believe in your right to repair. Each MLCZ002-6 socket is batch-tested to meet Australian 250 V / 2.5 A safety standards and carries ERAC certification. By replacing only the failed socket (not the whole transformer set) you save money and reduce e-waste—exactly why we work with suppliers willing to sell unbundled components.

Save Time & Money and Do It Yourself

Replacing this socket takes under ten minutes with only a Phillips-head screwdriver—no prior experience needed. Follow our step-by-step tutorial or watch the video in the “How To” tab, then sit back and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide
(Take a “Before” Photo & Lift Safely!)

  1. Unplug & Power Down
Switch the chair OFF at the wall, unplug the IEC kettle lead from the socket, then wait 60 seconds for any residual charge to discharge.
  2. Take a Quick “Before” Photo
Use your phone to snap the existing socket, cable path and plug orientation. That reference photo makes re-assembly fool-proof.
  3. Prepare a Clear Workspace
Remove cushions if possible and give yourself room on all sides. Keep pets and kids clear of the work area.
  4. Tip the Recliner Onto Its Front or Side Safely
Motion furniture is heavy. Ask a helper to steady the chair and lift only from the solid frame — never by the arms or footrest. Lay it gently on a soft blanket to avoid scuffs.
  5. Locate the Old Power Socket
Find the rectangular plate (usually rear-left of the arm frame). Confirm the cable path and note any zip-ties you’ll need to cut.
  6. Remove the Mounting Screws
Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, back out the two face-plate screws and slide the old module free.
  7. Disconnect the Low-Voltage Lead
Follow the 2-pin figure-8/OI lead to its mating plug and pull it apart. No twisting or yanking — grasp the moulded plugs and pull straight.
  8. Fit the New MLCZ002-6 Module
Route the new 580 mm lead along the original path (match your photo), plug the figure-8 connector into the transformer or junction box, then seat the socket in the cut-out and re-install the two screws.
  9. Re-Position & Test
With help, lift the recliner back to its normal position. Plug the IEC kettle lead into the new inlet, switch the rocker to ON and confirm the chair powers up.
  10. Cable-Tidy & Final Check
Replace any zip-ties you cut, make sure no leads are pinched by the mechanism and verify the rocker illuminates when switched on. Enjoy your fully powered chair!

FAQs

FAQs

How can I confirm this is the correct power socket for my chair?

Measure the visible plate on your existing socket—if it’s roughly 88 mm × 58 mm, has an illuminated red rocker and a standard IEC C14 inlet on the front, you’re on the right track. Next, check that the attached lead inside your chair ends in a 2-pin figure-8 (OI) plug and is about 580 mm long. If those three details line up, the MLCZ002-6 is the proper swap-in. When in doubt, snap a photo and send it to us for confirmation.

Do I need an electrician, or can I fit it myself?

It’s designed as a straightforward DIY job—two screws and a push-in low-voltage plug. Provided you disconnect the chair from mains power first and follow the step-by-step guide, no electrical licence is required in Australia. If you’re uncomfortable lifting the chair or working around wiring, you’re welcome to engage a professional, but most customers complete the install in under ten minutes.

s the IEC kettle-lead (wall cord) included?

No. This module replaces only the in-chair socket, rocker switch and attached figure-8 lead. Your existing kettle cord should plug straight in. If you need a fresh IEC lead, you’ll find them in our Power Cords & Leads category.

My transformer has the oval 2-pin IO connector—will this still work?

The MLCZ002-6 ships with a figure-8 plug, not the round-and-flat IO style. You can:

purchase one of our figure-8-to-IO adapter cables, or

choose a power-entry socket that already terminates in an IO plug.
Contact us if you’re unsure which option is best.

Does the fuse need replacing, or is it built-in?

The fuse is user-replaceable, not sealed in. The socket has a small slide-out carrier beside the rocker switch that holds a standard 5 × 20 mm T3.15 A / 250 V time-delay fuse. One fuse is factory-installed and a second spare is supplied in the carrier. If the original ever blows, simply unplug the chair, pop the carrier out with a small flat-blade screwdriver, swap in the spare (or any matching 5 × 20 mm T3.15 A fuse), push the carrier back until it clicks, and you’re ready to power up again.

Needed an extension cable for my electric La Z Boy sofa. The local La Z Boy store doesn’t sell them. Thankfully, these guys do and they shipped it very quickly. Awesome!

The cable unit I ordered was exactly what I needed and was simple to install. Great videos on the site to measure what you need and how to remove and install.

The product is the same as the original. Easy to install and great fast service from Sofa Rehab. The coiled plastic on the original part was disintegrating exposing the wires and now with the new control part the chair is as good as new!!

Just what I needed. My local La-Z-Boy store (where I bought my sofa) apparently doesn't sell extension leads but we're happy to sell me some internal power source for $150 or something. Thankfully, Sofa Rehab had this which was all l needed and they shipped it so quickly!

This was probably the most helpful company I have dealt with in a long time. My email was answered immediately. Txt messages followed asking for more info. They asked for pics of where we thought the problem was. They were spot on with what the problem was.
