Description

Okin JLDQ.12.134.333B Recliner Actuator Motor Replacement

The JLDQ.12.134.333B is a common linear actuator motor used in electric recliner chairs, sofas and lounge suites to drive the reclining motion. With a 333mm stroke length and 134mm mounting configuration, this actuator is designed as a direct replacement for many Okin and compatible systems. It features a 3 plug setup including a 2 pin male OI power input with retaining clip, a 2 pin female pass-through plug, and a 5 pin DIN connection for the handset, allowing for a simple plug-and-play installation.

3 Plug System for Simple Plug & Play Installation

This actuator is designed for systems where the handset connects directly into the motor. The male 2 pin OI plug receives power from the transformer, while the female 2 pin plug allows power to pass through to additional components such as a second actuator or accessories. The 5 pin DIN plug connects your handset, sending the control signals to operate the recliner. No rewiring or special setup is required, just match the plugs and install.

How To Install the Okin JLDQ.12.134.333B Recliner Actuator

Replacing your recliner actuator is a straightforward do-it-yourself repair for many electric recliner chairs, sofas and lounges. Before starting, make sure the furniture is disconnected from power and positioned so you can safely access the mechanism underneath.

  1. Disconnect the power supply.
Unplug the recliner from the wall socket and disconnect the transformer from the actuator system. This is important for safety and prevents the motor from moving during installation.
  2. Carefully place the furniture in a safe working position.
Gently tilt the recliner or sofa forward so you can access the underside. Make sure it is stable before continuing.
  3. Locate the old actuator.
Find the existing actuator mounted to the recliner mechanism. Check how it is fitted and take note of the mounting points and plug positions before removal.
  4. Disconnect the plugs.
Unplug the 2 pin power connection, the 2 pin pass-through plug if used, and the 5 pin DIN handset plug. Be careful not to pull on the wires directly. Hold the plug body when disconnecting.
  5. Remove the mounting hardware.
Undo the fixing pins, clips, bolts or brackets securing the actuator to the mechanism. Keep all reusable hardware aside so it is ready for fitting the new actuator.
  6. Remove the old actuator.
Once the mounting points are free, carefully lift the actuator out of the recliner mechanism.
  7. Fit the new actuator into position.
Align the new Okin JLDQ.12.134.333B actuator with the original mounting points and install it in the same position as the old unit.
  8. Secure the actuator.
Refit the original mounting pins, clips, bolts or brackets and make sure the actuator is held firmly in place.
  9. Reconnect the plugs.
Connect the male 2 pin OI plug to the power supply lead, reconnect the female 2 pin plug if your setup uses a pass-through connection, and plug in the 5 pin DIN handset connection.
  10. Test the actuator.
Reconnect the transformer and plug the recliner back into power. Test the movement using the handset to make sure the actuator is operating correctly and the recliner opens and closes smoothly.
  11. Return the furniture to its normal position.
Once testing is complete, carefully place the furniture back into its usual position and enjoy your repaired recliner.

Helpful tip. Before ordering, always check your actuator model number, stroke length, mounting configuration and plug setup to ensure compatibility. If you are unsure, contact us and we will help you identify the correct replacement.

FAQs

FAQs

How do I know if this actuator is the correct replacement for my recliner?

Check the model number on your existing actuator, along with the stroke length (333mm), mounting configuration (134mm), and plug setup. This model has a 3 plug configuration including a 2 pin power input, 2 pin pass-through, and 5 pin handset connection. If you're unsure, contact us and we’ll help confirm compatibility.

What are the symptoms of a faulty actuator?

Common signs include no movement, intermittent operation, unusual noises, or the recliner getting stuck in one position. Before replacing the actuator, also check your power supply, cables and handset to rule out other faults.

Can I install this actuator myself?

Yes, this is a DIY-friendly replacement. The actuator uses plug-and-play connections and is typically secured with simple mounting pins or bolts. With basic tools like a screwdriver or spanner, most installations can be completed in under 30 minutes.

Does this actuator come with cables and plugs?

Yes, this actuator includes the pre-fitted cable with 3 plugs, ready to connect to your existing system as long as it matches your current setup.

My recliner has stopped working, is the actuator definitely the problem?

Not always. Common faults can also be caused by the power supply, cables, or handset. If your recliner isn’t moving at all, it’s worth checking these components too. Feel free to contact us and we can help troubleshoot before you buy.
