How To Install Your Pride Mobility Remote (ELEASMB7120017)
Safety first: Unplug the chair from mains power at the wall before you begin. Use safe lifting techniques (bend your knees, keep your back straight, lift with your legs) and get help to tip or move the chair. Keep fingers clear of moving linkages and scissor mechanisms.
Before You Start
- No tools are required for most chairs. Optional: a few cable ties and scissors for neat cable routing.
- Confirm your chair uses a 5-pin hand control interface. If you see 8 pins, this handset will not be compatible.
- Take a photo of the existing handset plug and cable routing under the chair. This is your reference for reassembly.
Step-by-Step Installation
- Disconnect power. Switch off at the power point and unplug the transformer from the wall. If your chair has a battery backup, disconnect it as well.
- Position the chair safely. With a second person, gently tip the chair onto its side or front so you can access the underside. Support it securely and keep hands clear of the mechanism.
- Locate the handset lead. Follow the current remote’s cable from the side pocket to the control box or junction under the seat. Refer to your photo for the path and anchor points.
- Release the old plug. Press the latch or locking tab on the handset connector and pull the 5-pin plug straight out. Do not twist the pins.
- Remove the old handset. Slide the handset out of its pocket or holster. If there is a clip, gently unclip it.
- Route the new cable. Feed the new ELEASMB7120017 cable along the same path as the original (part straight, part coiled). Avoid sharp edges and moving linkages. Leave a small service loop near the pocket so the cord is not tight during use.
- Connect the 5-pin plug. Align the keyway and push the new plug firmly into the controller socket until it clicks. Do not force it. Check that no pins are bent.
- Secure the lead. Use the existing clips or a couple of light cable ties to keep the lead tidy and away from the mechanism. Do not overtighten ties on the coiled section.
- Return the chair upright. With safe lifting technique and assistance, gently set the chair back to its normal position.
- Restore power and test. Plug the transformer back into the wall and switch on. Test Lift and Recline. Check the handset back-lighting and the USB charging port with a phone or small device.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if this remote will fit my chair?
Check that your chair uses a 5-pin hand control and that your original remote is labelled ELEASMB7120017 (or matches the same 5-pin layout). If you’re unsure, take a photo of your plug and control box label and contact us for confirmation.
Is installation DIY? What should I prepare?
Yes, it’s plug-and-play. Unplug the chair from the wall first. Use safe lifting techniques (bend your knees, keep your back straight, lift with your legs) and get help to tip the chair if needed. Take a photo of the existing cable routing before removal, then swap the plugs and route the new lead the same way.
Will the USB port charge my phone or tablet?
The integrated USB port is intended for light device charging such as phones and small accessories. Charge speed depends on your device. It is not a data port and requires the chair to be powered.
Is the cable long enough for my setup?
The relaxed cable length is approximately 1080 mm (part straight, part coiled), which suits most recliner pockets and routing paths. Leave a small service loop so the cord is not tight during use and secure it away from moving parts.
What if I’m still not sure this is the right remote?
We stock a wide range of replacement recliner remotes . Contact us with your chair’s model or serial number and we’ll help confirm the correct part for you.
Do I need any tools or an electrician to fit it?
No. This is a DIY instal simply plug and play.
