How To Install Your Replacement Recliner Switch
- Take a before photo. Before removing anything, take clear photos of the existing switch, cable path and plug connections. This will help you reconnect the new switch the same way.
- Disconnect the power. Unplug the recliner from the wall power outlet and disconnect any battery backup if fitted. Do not work on the recliner while it is connected to power.
- Access the switch safely. If you need to move or tilt the recliner, use safe lifting techniques. Recliners can be heavy, so ask another person to help, bend at your knees, keep your back straight and avoid twisting while lifting.
- Remove the nickel fascia cover. Carefully unclip or lift off the removable fascia cover from the old switch to expose the mounting screws.
- Unscrew the old switch. Remove the screws holding the switch in place and keep them aside, as screws are not supplied with the replacement switch.
- Follow the cable to the plugs. Trace the old switch cable to the inline splitter junction box and plug connections. Compare the plugs with your new switch before disconnecting.
- Disconnect the old switch. Release the retaining clasps and gently unplug the 5 pin DIN plug and 2 pin OI plug. Do not pull directly on the wires.
- Connect the new switch. Plug in the new 5 pin male DIN plug and female 2 pin OI plug, making sure the retaining clasps lock securely into place.
- Fit the switch into position. Place the new switch into the existing cut-out and check that it sits neatly without forcing it into place.
- Secure the switch. Reuse your original screws to fasten the switch, then refit the nickel fascia cover to hide the screw holes.
- Reconnect power and test. Plug the recliner back into power and test the recliner open/close, headrest open/close, home button and USB charging port.
Important: If the switch does not operate correctly, disconnect the power and recheck the plug connections against your before photo. If you are unsure at any stage, contact us for assistance before continuing.
