The Kaidi KDH249D-017 is a 5 button dual actuator electric recliner switch for powered recliners with separate footrest and headrest functions. It features two sets of rocker switches, with one set controlling the recliner footrest open and close function, and the second set controlling the powered headrest open and close function.
The fifth button is a home reset button, allowing the connected recliner functions to return to their home position. This switch also includes a child lock, USB-A and USB-C charging ports, and a nickel coloured fascia for a clean modern appearance. It can be installed on either side of the furniture where the original switch, cable routing and cut out are compatible.
Important Model Numbers, Sticker Codes and Plug Details
Please compare your original switch carefully before ordering. The model number on this switch is KDH249D-017, and the sticker may also show MOT-TS-124 and 31102210(C). The 31102210(C) reference is a manufacturing code, but it is still useful for visually identifying the correct switch.
This switch uses a two-part cable system. The first short lead exits the switch and connects to a female 8 port white system plug. This lead is approximately 110mm long including the plug. The second cable has a male 8 port white system plug on one end and a male 5 pin DIN plug on the other end, with an approximate cable length of 1850mm including the plugs. The 8 port system plug has 6 ports used and 2 ports not used.

How To Replace Your Kaidi KDH249D-017 Recliner Switch
This tutorial is a general guide for replacing a matching Kaidi KDH249D-017 electric recliner switch. Before starting, compare your old switch with the new replacement to confirm the model number, plug shape, button layout, cable configuration and approximate dimensions are the same.
Before You Start
- Turn off the power at the wall socket.
- Unplug the recliner power supply from the wall before handling any cables.
- Take a clear photo of the existing switch, cable path and plug connections before disconnecting anything. This gives you a helpful reference when fitting the new switch.
- Use safe lifting techniques if you need to move or tilt the furniture. Recliners and lounges can be heavy, so get another person to help where needed, bend your knees, keep your back straight and avoid twisting while lifting.
- Place the furniture in a stable position before working underneath or behind it.
- Keep fingers clear of moving mechanisms and metal frame parts.
Tools You May Need
- Phillips head screwdriver or suitable screwdriver for your existing mounting screws.
- Torch or work light.
- Phone or camera for reference photos.
- Cable ties, if you need to secure the cable neatly after installation.
Step 1: Check the Replacement Switch
Compare your original switch with the replacement Kaidi KDH249D-017 switch before removing anything. Check that the fascia, button layout, USB-A and USB-C ports, child lock, model number and cable plugs match your existing switch.
Also compare the sticker references where possible. This switch may show KDH249D-017, MOT-TS-124 and 31102210(C). The 31102210(C) reference is a manufacturing code, while KDH249D-017 is the model number.
Step 2: Disconnect the Power
Switch the recliner off at the wall and unplug the power supply from the wall socket. Do not work on the recliner switch while the recliner is connected to power.
Step 3: Take Reference Photos
Before unplugging the old switch, take photos of the cable route, plug connections and how the switch is fitted into the arm of the recliner. This is especially useful because the Kaidi KDH249D-017 uses a two-part cable system with an 8 port white system plug and a 5 pin DIN plug.
Step 4: Access the Old Switch and Cable
Carefully move the recliner or lounge so you can access the switch wiring. Use safe lifting techniques and ask another person to help if the furniture is heavy or awkward to move.
Follow the cable from the old switch to the plug connection. Avoid pulling directly on the wires. Hold the plug body when disconnecting the cable.
Step 5: Remove the Old Switch
Remove the existing mounting screws from the switch fascia and keep them aside, as screws are not supplied with the new switch. Gently pull the old switch out from the cut out in the furniture arm.
If the switch feels stuck, check for hidden screws, clips or upholstery tension before applying more force. Do not force the switch out in a way that could damage the furniture covering or wiring.
Step 6: Disconnect the Old Cable
Disconnect the old switch cable from the recliner wiring system by carefully separating the plugs. Depending on your recliner, this may involve disconnecting the white 8 port system plug, the male 5 pin DIN plug, or both parts of the cable system.
Take care to note the plug orientation. Many plugs only fit one way, but your reference photos will help confirm how the original cable was connected.
Step 7: Fit the New Switch
Feed the cable from the new Kaidi KDH249D-017 switch through the existing cut out and into the recliner arm. Fit the switch into the opening and check that it sits neatly against the upholstery.
The approximate minimum cut out required is 108mm wide x 25mm high x 42mm deep. Do not force the switch into a cut out that is too small.
Step 8: Reconnect the Cable Plugs
Connect the new switch cable to the matching recliner wiring. The short lead exits the switch and connects to the female 8 port white system plug. The second cable has the male 8 port white system plug on one end and the male 5 pin DIN plug on the other end.
Make sure each plug is fully seated and connected in the correct orientation. Do not bend pins or force plugs together if they do not line up correctly.
Step 9: Secure the Switch and Cable
Reuse your existing screws to secure the switch fascia to the furniture arm. Do not overtighten the screws, as this may damage the fascia or the furniture panel.
Route the cable away from moving recliner mechanisms, pinch points and sharp metal edges. Use cable ties if needed to keep the cable neat and safely positioned.
Step 10: Test the Recliner
Once everything is connected and the furniture is stable, plug the recliner power supply back into the wall socket and turn the power on.
Test each function one at a time:
- Footrest open.
- Footrest close.
- Headrest open.
- Headrest close.
- Home reset button.
- Child lock function.
- USB-A and USB-C charging ports.
The USB port entrance should illuminate green when turned on. If a function does not work, turn the power off and recheck the plug connections against your reference photos.
