How To Install Your Replacement Kaidi Recliner Actuator
Before starting, disconnect the recliner from power and make sure the chair is positioned safely with enough room to work. Take care when moving or lifting furniture. Recliner chairs and lounges can be heavy, so use safe lifting techniques, keep your back straight, bend your knees, and ask another person to help if needed.
- Disconnect the power.
Unplug the recliner from the wall socket and disconnect the power supply from the chair before touching any cables or electrical components. - Take a before photo.
Take clear photos of the existing actuator, cable routing, plug connections and mounting points before removing anything. These photos will help you reconnect the new actuator in the same position. - Carefully access the underside of the recliner.
Gently tilt the chair or lounge to access the actuator motor underneath. Use safe lifting techniques and have someone assist you if the furniture is large, awkward or heavy. - Locate the existing actuator motor.
Find the Kaidi actuator attached to the recliner mechanism. Check the label, mounting points and plug connections to confirm it matches the replacement actuator arrangement. - Disconnect the actuator cables.
Carefully unplug the actuator motor cables from the recliner wiring. Do not pull on the wires themselves. Hold the plug housings and release any retaining clips where fitted. - Remove the actuator from the mechanism.
Remove the retaining clips, pins or fixings that hold the actuator in place. Keep these parts safe, as they may be reused to install the replacement actuator. - Fit the replacement actuator.
Position the supplied Kaidi KDYJT006-20 actuator in the same orientation as the original motor. Refit the pins, retaining clips or fixings securely into the original mounting points. - Connect the 1 metre OI extension lead.
Plug the included OI two pin extension lead into the actuator power lead where extra cable length is required. This provides the longer power lead arrangement needed for KDYJT006-22 replacement applications. - Reconnect the remaining plugs.
Reconnect the actuator cables to the matching recliner wiring, following your before photos to ensure the cable routing and plug connections are the same as the original setup. - Check cable clearance.
Make sure all cables are routed away from moving metal parts, pinch points and sharp edges. The cables should have enough slack for the recliner to move without being stretched, crushed or caught. - Return the recliner to its normal position.
Carefully lower the chair or lounge back into place using safe lifting techniques. Keep fingers, cables and loose fabric away from the mechanism while repositioning the furniture. - Reconnect power and test the recliner.
Plug the recliner back into power and test the open and close movement. Watch the actuator and cables during the first test to make sure everything moves smoothly and safely.
