How To Install the eMoMo Tech 3MTR 3MR135-335W Recliner Actuator
Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace and Take a Reference Photo
Unplug your recliner from the wall power before starting. Move the chair into a safe working position with enough space to tilt or access underneath. Recliners can be heavy, so use safe lifting techniques (bend your knees, keep your back straight, and avoid twisting) or ask someone to assist. Before removing anything, take clear photos of the existing actuator, cable routing, and mounting points. This will make reinstallation much easier.
Step 2: Access the Actuator
Carefully tilt the recliner forward or onto its back to expose the mechanism underneath. Ensure the chair is stable and won’t shift while you are working.
Step 3: Disconnect the Old Actuator
Locate the actuator and follow the cable to its connection point. Disconnect the right-angled 2 pin plug. Next, remove the mounting points at both ends of the actuator. These are usually secured with retaining clips, pins, or bolts. Keep all hardware aside for reuse.
Step 4: Remove and Compare
Remove the old actuator from the frame. Place it next to your new 3MTR 3MR135-335W actuator and confirm that the install length (135mm), stroke (335mm), plug type, and mounting ends match. This step is important to ensure correct fitment before installing.
Step 5: Install the New Actuator
Position the new actuator into the same orientation as the original. Secure both ends to the recliner mechanism using the original pins, clips, or bolts. Make sure all fittings are properly seated and aligned.
Step 6: Reconnect and Route the Cable
Reconnect the 2 pin plug, ensuring a firm and secure connection. Route the cable along the same path as before, keeping it clear of moving parts to prevent pinching or damage during operation.
Step 7: Test the Recliner
Return the recliner to its normal position, reconnect power, and test the movement. Run the recliner through a full cycle to confirm smooth operation and correct installation.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if this actuator is the right replacement for my recliner?
You’ll need to match the install (closed) length of 135mm, the 335mm stroke, and the plug type. The safest way is to check the model number on your existing actuator or compare measurements. If you’re unsure, send us a photo and measurements and we’ll help confirm compatibility.
What happens if the stroke length doesn’t match?
The stroke length determines how far the recliner moves. If it doesn’t match, your recliner may not fully open or close properly. Always match both the install length and stroke to ensure correct operation.
Is this actuator difficult to install myself?
Not at all. Most actuator replacements are straightforward and only require basic tools like a screwdriver or pliers. With our guides and a reference photo before you start, most DIY customers can complete the job in under 30 minutes.
Does this actuator come with cables and plugs?
Yes, this actuator includes the pre-fitted cable with a right-angled 2 pin male plug, ready to connect to your existing system as long as it matches your current setup.
My recliner has stopped working, is the actuator definitely the problem?
Not always. Common faults can also be caused by the power supply, cables, or handset. If your recliner isn’t moving at all, it’s worth checking these components too. Feel free to contact us and we can help troubleshoot before you buy.
