The switch has two sets of rocker buttons. One rocker set controls the footrest recliner open and close function, while the second rocker set controls the headrest open and close function. The fifth button is the home reset button, used to return the chair functions to the home position.
It also includes USB-A and USB-C charging ports with a combined USB output rating of MAX 2000mA 5V. The fascia is nickel coloured for a neat, modern appearance. Screws are not supplied.
Important Compatibility Notice (Not Universal)
This recliner switch is not universal. Please remove your existing switch from the chair and check the model label before ordering. This switch is a direct replacement only if your current switch model is KDH249D-012.
This control switch is specifically designed for Kaidi motors with a special wiring sequence and blue power plug. If it is used on a motor with a standard wiring sequence, the USB ports will not receive power and the button functions may be erratic.
Only order this switch if your existing switch has the same KDH249D-012 model number and your actuator has the blue power lead. If you are unsure, please contact us before purchasing so we can help you check the correct replacement.
Switch Position, Plug and Cable Details
This Kaidi switch is left side facing, also described by Sofa Rehab as right hand operated when seated in the chair. This means that when you are sitting in the recliner, the switch is operated by the user’s right hand.
The cable is approximately 1430mm long including the male 5 pin DIN plug. Please compare the plug shape, pin count and cable length with your existing switch before ordering, as matching the model number and wiring type is essential for correct operation.
Approximate dimensions:
- Fascia size: 140mm wide x 41mm high.
- Switch body size: 137mm wide x 37mm high x 39mm deep.

How To Install The Kaidi KDH249D-012 Recliner Switch
Important: This switch is not universal. Before installation, remove your existing switch and confirm the model number on the label is KDH249D-012. Also check that your Kaidi actuator has the required blue power lead. If the model number or power lead does not match, do not install this switch.
- Disconnect the recliner from power.
Turn the recliner off at the wall and unplug the power supply before starting. Do not work on the recliner while it is connected to mains power. - Use safe lifting practices.
Recliners and lift chairs can be heavy and awkward to move. Ask another person to help where needed, avoid twisting your back, bend your knees when lifting, and only tilt or move the chair as much as required to access the switch and cable. - Take a before photo for reference.
Before disconnecting anything, take clear photos of the existing switch position, cable route, plug connection and any clips or cable ties. These photos will help you reconnect the replacement switch the same way. - Remove the existing switch.
Carefully remove the screws or fixings holding the old switch in place. Keep the screws safe, as screws are not supplied with this replacement switch. - Check the label and plug.
Confirm the existing switch label matches KDH249D-012. Compare the label codes, plug shape, 5 pin DIN connection and cable layout before fitting the replacement. - Disconnect the old switch cable.
Follow the cable from the switch to the connection point. Release any retaining clip if fitted, then gently unplug the old switch without pulling on the wires. - Connect the new switch.
Plug the replacement Kaidi KDH249D-012 switch into the matching 5 pin DIN connection. Make sure the plug is fully seated and any retaining clip is secure. - Route the cable safely.
Run the cable along the same path as the original switch cable, using your before photo as a guide. Keep the cable away from moving mechanisms, pinch points, sharp edges and areas where it may be crushed when the recliner operates. - Fit the switch into the chair.
Place the switch into the existing cut out and refit using the original screws or suitable replacement screws. Do not overtighten, as this may damage the fascia or furniture frame. - Reconnect power and test carefully.
Plug the recliner back into power and test each button one at a time. Check the footrest open and close, headrest open and close, home reset button, and USB-A and USB-C ports.
Troubleshooting: If the USB ports do not receive power or the button functions are erratic, disconnect the recliner from power and recheck the model number and actuator power lead. This switch is designed for Kaidi motors with a special wiring sequence and blue power plug, and will not operate correctly on standard wiring sequence motors.
If you are unsure whether this is the correct replacement switch, contact Sofa Rehab before installation with photos of your existing switch label, plug and actuator power lead.
