Description
Genuine La‑Z‑Boy Slide Insert – Seat‑Slide Nylon Bearing
Replace the oval shaped black bearing that makes your La‑Z‑Boy seat box glide. Part no. 15000031‑00 drops straight into the metal front slide bracket (12000130‑01 L/R) found on most rocker, glider and Wall‑Saver chairs and motion sofas built from the mid‑1990s onwards. Worn inserts cause side‑to‑side wobble, creaks and rough rocking; a fresh pair restores smooth, quiet travel. Sold **individually** – order two for one chair.
Common Failures & Issues – How to Spot a Worn Insert
• **Side‑to‑Side Seat Wobble** – The chair feels loose or shifts sideways when you rock or recline.
• **Creaks, Squeaks or Grinding Noises** – Nylon dust has worn away, so the steel slide rubs directly on the bracket.
• **Seat Sticks or Jumps** – The glide track is no longer smooth, making the seat box catch mid‑motion.
• **Visible Damage** – Cracks, chips or flattened areas on the plastic insert, often accompanied by black debris on the floor.
If you notice any of the above, replacing both inserts is the quickest, lowest‑cost fix. The steel bracket itself almost never fails; you simply swap in a new bearing.

Step‑by‑Step Guide – Replacing the La‑Z‑Boy Slide Insert Safely
Read right through first, gather everything you need, and enlist a helper if the chair is heavy. Work methodically and take photos as you go so re‑assembly is a breeze.
1. Prepare the workspace
- • Clear the floor and lay down a dust sheet (old towel or drop cloth) to catch screws and protect the upholstery.
- • Unplug any power pack and remove loose cushions.
- • Tip the recliner forward onto its arms so the mechanism faces you.
2. Safe‑lifting essentials
- • Bend your knees, keep your back straight and lift with your legs.
- • Team‑lift anything over ≈ 25 kg.
- • Wear gloves to avoid sharp‑edge nicks and eye protection around staples or springs.
3. Remove the seat box
- • Locate the eight seat‑box bolts/screws (four each side) and remove with a 5/16″ socket or Torx T‑25 driver.
- • Lift the seat box up and forward; set it carefully on the dust sheet.
4. Open the arm carcass for rear access
- •At the front corner of the arm carcass release or un‑staple any black dust cover and the outside arm cover.
- • Fold back a small section of upholstery to expose the rear Torx bolt holding the eye‑pin and support tube.
5.Remove eye pin and spread arm carcass
- • Undo the rear Torx T‑30 bolt; remove the eye‑pin.
- • Spread the arm carcass out to allow the front support tube to pull clear.
- • Remove the front seat slide frame off the tube.
- • Remove the worn nylon insert.
6. Fit the new nylon slide insert
- • Press the new La‑Z‑Boy 15000031‑00 insert fully home inside the metal seat slide frame.
- • Slide the seat insert frame back onto the front support tube noting the correct direction of the seat slide.
7. Re‑assemble the mechanism
- • Feed the support tube into the arm carcass hole.
- • Align the eye‑pin into the front support tube hole and at the rear tighten the Torx bolt fully.
- • Re‑staple the outside arm upholstery and any dust cover neatly.
8. Re‑mount the seat box
- • Align the eight seat‑box holes; thread bolts/screws finger‑tight first, then torque firmly.
9. Final safety checks
- • Cycle the mechanism by hand – smooth, silent motion means success.
- • Confirm upholstery is tidy and no tools/screws are left inside.
- • Stand the chair upright with help and enjoy the restored glide!

FAQs
FAQs
1. How many slide inserts do I need for one chair?
Each La‑Z‑Boy rocker or Wall‑Saver recliner uses two of these nylon bearings – one on the left‑hand seat slide and one on the right. Our listing price is per insert, so remember to add two to your cart if you’re refurbishing a single chair.
How many slide inserts do I need for one chair?
Measure the clear inside distance between the two mechanism side plates. A width of 552 mm (21 ¾ in) means 12970490‑00 is correct. If you have a different size we do not stock these.
Can I install these myself, or do I need a technician?
Installation is a safe DIY task that typically takes 20 minutes. See our "How To" guide for step by step instructions.
Will part 15000031‑00 fit my model?
If your recliner was built on an LY‑series (or similar) mechanism with a stamped‑steel front seat‑slide bracket coded 12000130‑01 L/R, this insert is the correct replacement. Those brackets appear on most La‑Z‑Boy rockers, gliders and Wall‑Saver chairs from the mid‑1990s onwards.
Are these genuine La-Z-Boy parts?
Yes, these are genuine OEM La-Z-Boy parts, not aftermarket copies. Manufactured to original specifications for the perfect fit and long-lasting performance.
What are the tell‑tale signs my slide inserts are worn?
Typical symptoms include side‑to‑side seat wobble, squeaks or grinding noises while rocking, and black nylon “dust” on the floor under the chair. Any cracking or flattening of the plastic insert means it’s time to replace both sides.
