Description
Miller Scratch Fix Wood Stain Pen for Timber Touch Ups
Miller Scratch Fix Wood Stain Pens are felt-tip stain pens used to colour and disguise small scratches, scuffs, nicks and marks on wooden furniture and stained timber surfaces. They contain real wood stain rather than ink or paint, allowing the colour to soak into exposed woodgrain for a more natural looking touch-up.
Use these pens on timber furniture, cabinets, doors, door jambs, window frames, picture frames, mouldings, antiques, wood panelling and stained timber floors. They are ideal for quick touch-ups around the home, workshop, showroom or furniture repair kit.
Each pen is sold individually in your selected colour and measures approximately 152mm long x 16mm round, including the lid.
Choosing the Right Timber Stain Colour
Miller Scratch Fix Pens are available in 5 timber wood tones to help match common furniture and wood finishes.
Light Brown is suitable for light brown to medium brown timber, including pine, oak, ash, birch and lighter stained hardwoods.
Medium Brown is suitable for mid brown to darker timber, including light walnut and light brown mahogany.
Red Brown is suitable for warmer red toned timbers, including jarrah, medium mahogany and red oak.
Dark Brown is suitable for darker brown timber, including dark walnut and dark mahogany.
Black Brown is suitable for very dark timber, including dark oak, very dark mahogany, black timber, and some painted or lacquered wood finishes.
If you are unsure between two shades, it is usually safer to start lighter because repeat applications can darken the result. Always test first in a hidden area where possible.
Will a Scratch Fix Pen Suit Your Repair?
Scratch Fix Pens work best where a scratch or nick has broken through the clear finish and exposed pale or raw timber underneath. The stain colours the exposed wood so the damage blends more naturally with the surrounding finish.
If the scratch is only in the clear lacquer or top coat and has not exposed the timber, a stain pen may not make much difference. If the damage is deep, chipped, dented or missing material, the stain pen can colour the area but it will not fill the damage.
For deeper scratches or small chips, you may need a timber filler, repair crayon, beeswax stick or furniture wax before or after staining. See our timber repair and maintenance products if you need a more concealed repair or a product that fills as well as colours.
Handy for Home, Trade and Furniture Repair Kits
These wood touch-up stain pens are a useful addition to any furniture care kit. They are handy for homeowners doing small timber repairs, as well as furniture warehouses, furniture removalists, woodworkers, furniture manufacturers and mobile repair technicians who need a quick way to touch up minor marks.
Keep one in a drawer, toolbox, delivery kit or repair bag so small timber scratches can be dealt with before they stand out or become more noticeable.
Do It Yourself Timber Touch Ups and Save
Minor timber scratches do not always mean you need to sand, refinish or replace the whole piece. With the right colour Scratch Fix Pen and a soft cloth, you can quickly improve the look of small marks yourself.
If you are unsure whether this stain pen is right for your repair, or whether you need a filler, wax, crayon or different timber maintenance product, contact us and we can help point you in the right direction.

Important Suitability Notes
- Scratch Fix Pens colour exposed timber, but they do not fill deep scratches, chips, dents or missing material.
- If the scratch is only in the clear lacquer or top coat, and has not exposed the timber beneath, a stain pen may not improve the mark.
- Timber names and colour names are a guide only. Always test in a hidden or inconspicuous area before applying to a visible repair.
- Repeat applications can be used to darken the result if required.

How To Apply Miller Scratch Fix Pens
- Test in an inconspicuous area first. Apply a small amount of stain to a hidden area, wipe away the excess and allow it to dry before deciding if the colour is suitable. Timber colour names are only a guide, and the final shade can vary depending on the timber, existing stain, age and finish.
- Prepare the scratched area. Make sure the surface is clean, dry and free from dust, polish, wax or loose debris before applying the Scratch Fix Pen.
- Place the cap over the base of the tube. This keeps the cap handy while you are using the pen and helps prevent it being misplaced.
- Apply in the direction of the woodgrain. Lightly stroke the Scratch Fix Pen over the scratch, scuff, nick or exposed timber mark, following the natural direction of the grain.
- Wipe away excess stain immediately. Use a soft cloth to remove any stain sitting on the surrounding finished surface. The stain is intended to colour the exposed timber, not coat the surrounding area.
- Repeat if a darker finish is needed. Allow the first application to settle, then apply another light coat if you need to build a darker colour match.
- Allow the area to dry. The stain dries quickly, but allow approximately 5 minutes before polishing, waxing or handling the repaired area.
- Replace the cap firmly after use. Push the cap back on securely to help prevent the felt tip from drying out.
Important: Scratch Fix Pens colour exposed timber, but they do not fill deep scratches, chips, dents or missing material. If the damage is deep, use a suitable timber filler, repair crayon, beeswax stick or furniture wax as part of the repair.

Colour Match and Suitability Disclaimer
Timber colour names and shade suggestions are provided as a guide only. Furniture described as walnut, mahogany, oak, pine, jarrah, dark brown or light brown etc.. can vary significantly between manufacturers, timber species, stain brands, age, wear, clear coats and lighting conditions.
Do not assume a Scratch Fix Pen colour will match your furniture based only on the colour name or timber name. Always test the pen in a hidden or inconspicuous area first, wipe away excess as directed, and allow the test area to dry before deciding whether the colour is suitable.
Miller Scratch Fix Pens colour exposed timber. They do not fill deep scratches, dents, chips or missing material. If the damage is deep, a filler, wax, repair crayon or beeswax stick may be required before or after colouring.
Once the product is applied to a visible area, the selected colour, colour match and suitability for the repair are the responsibility of the user. Furniture Spares Direct trading as Sofa Rehab will not be liable.Â

FAQs
FAQs
Can I use a Miller Scratch Fix Pen to repair scratches in wood furniture?
Yes, Miller Scratch Fix Pens are designed for minor scratches, scuffs, nicks and marks on wood furniture and stained timber surfaces. They work best when the scratch has broken through the clear finish and exposed pale or raw timber underneath.
Is a Scratch Fix Pen the same as a wood filler or repair crayon?
No, a Scratch Fix Pen colours exposed timber but does not fill deep scratches, chips, dents or missing material. If you need to fill the damage as well as colour it, consider using a timber filler, repair crayon, beeswax stick or furniture wax from our timber repair and maintenance range.
Which wood stain pen colour should I choose?
Choose the closest shade to your timber finish, but remember that colour names are only a guide. Light Brown, Medium Brown, Red Brown, Dark Brown and Black Brown can appear different depending on the timber species, original stain, clear coat, age and lighting. Always test first in a hidden area before applying to a visible repair.
Can I use a wood scratch repair pen on timber floors, doors or cabinets?
Yes, these wood stain touch-up pens can be used on many stained timber surfaces, including timber floors, doors, door jambs, cabinets, window frames, picture frames, mouldings, panelling and antiques. The surface should be clean, dry and suitable for accepting wood stain.
Is Miller Scratch Fix Pen a paint marker or an ink marker?
No, Miller Scratch Fix Pen contains real wood stain, not paint or ink. The stain soaks into exposed woodgrain to help disguise the damaged area, while excess stain should be wiped away from the surrounding finished surface immediately after application.
