41T / 41TT Lift Chair Pivot Bolt & Washer Kit
This replacement nut, bolt and washer kit is designed for use on Leggett & Platt 41T and 41TT lift chair mechanisms, and is also compatible with many La Z Boy 2 button lift chairs that use the same industry standard mechanism. It is used in the pivot joints of the mechanism where smooth, controlled movement is essential for proper recline and lift function.
The kit includes a high-tensile bolt, nyloc locking nut, nylon spacer bush and nylon load bearing washer, all working together to maintain correct alignment, reduce friction and ensure reliable operation in high-use linkage points.
Restore Smooth, Stable Lift Chair Movement
Over time, pivot points within the mechanism can wear, loosen or become noisy due to worn washers or bushings. This can lead to movement issues such as wobble, knocking sounds or uneven operation when reclining or lifting.
Replacing worn hardware with this kit helps restore smooth and stable movement by tightening up the joint, reducing excess play and protecting surrounding components from further wear. In many cases, replacing these small parts can resolve issues without needing to replace the entire mechanism.
New Style Nylon Washer Design
This kit features the current design configuration used on modern 41T and 41TT mechanisms, which includes a nylon load bearing washer. This design provides smooth operation within the pivot joint and helps reduce wear between moving components.
The nylon washer works together with the spacer bush to minimise friction and maintain consistent movement through the full range of motion of the mechanism.
Also Available – Older Brass Washer Version (Different Size)
We also stock the older style version of this kit which uses a brass load bearing washer, however these two versions are not interchangeable.
This current design kit (nylon load bearing washer) is suited to mechanisms with a linkage hole size of approximately 15.8mm. The older brass washer version is designed for mechanisms with a smaller linkage hole size of approximately 12.7mm.

It is important to check the hole size in your mechanism linkage before ordering to ensure you select the correct version. If you are unsure which kit you require, feel free to contact us with a photo and we can help you identify the right replacement.

How To Install – Lift Chair Pivot Bolt & Washer Kit
Replacing your lift chair pivot bolt kit is a straightforward DIY repair that can be completed with basic hand tools. Before you begin, take a clear photo of the existing setup so you can use it as a reference when installing the new components.
For safety, ensure the chair is switched off and unplugged. Carefully position the chair to access the mechanism and always use safe lifting techniques when tilting or moving the chair, as lift chairs can be heavy.
- Locate the worn pivot joint: Identify the bolt assembly that needs replacing. Compare it with your new kit to confirm it’s the correct position.
- Remove the old hardware: Using a 14mm spanner or socket, loosen and remove the existing nut and bolt. Keep note of the order and orientation of washers and bushings.
- Inspect the area: Check the surrounding linkage arms for wear or damage before installing the new parts.
- Install the new bolt: Insert the new bolt through the pivot point, ensuring the nylon spacer and washers are positioned correctly (refer to your photo if needed).
- Fit the load bearing washer: Place the nylon load bearing washer over the shoulder section of the bolt where required.
- Secure with the lock nut: Thread the nyloc nut onto the bolt and tighten using your 14mm tools. Tighten firmly but do not overtighten, as the joint must still pivot freely.
- Test the movement: Manually move the mechanism to ensure smooth operation before returning the chair to its normal position.
