Leather Fibre Binder for Larger Furniture Repairs
This 250ml bottle of liquid Leather Binder prepares worn or cracked areas of genuine leather furniture for further repair. Its thin, water-based formula strengthens weakened fibres before filling or recolouring.
Apply it with the included touch up sponge to the areas that need strengthening. The larger bottle is useful when preparing multiple seat panels or armrests as part of a leather couch, sofa or chair repair.
Strengthen Worn Leather Before Filling & Recolouring
When leather fibres are weakened, binder helps stabilise them before you continue the repair. It can also help with very fine surface cracks. Deeper cracks may need Leather Crack Filler, followed by a suitable colourant to restore the appearance.

How Much Leather Will 250ml Cover?
As a guide, the 250ml bottle is suitable for approximately two standard chair seats and four armrests, or up to three standard seats and two armrests.
These estimates cover the specified seating areas, rather than every surface of a complete sofa. The size and condition of the damaged areas and the number of coats will affect how much you use.
For a smaller repair, our 50ml Leather Binder is suitable for approximately one standard chair seat or a pair of armrests.

How To Apply Leather Binder
These instructions apply to both the 50ml and 250ml Leather Binder. Use the supplied touch up sponge to work the binder into worn or cracked leather, strengthening weakened fibres before further filling or recolouring.
Before starting, check that the products are suitable for your leather and test them in an inconspicuous area. If the surface is peeling or you are unsure what type of material you have, contact us for advice.
Step 1: Clean and Prepare the Leather
- Clean the repair area with Leather Prep Wash, following its instructions to remove surface contaminants and prepare the leather.
- Lightly sand the damaged area with fine sandpaper where required to remove loose fibres and smooth the surface.
- Wipe away sanding dust with a clean cloth and allow the area to dry before applying the binder.
Step 2: Work the Binder Into the Damaged Area
- Apply a small amount of Leather Binder to the supplied touch up sponge.
- Dab or stipple the binder onto the worn or cracked area using a repeated pressing motion.
- Apply firm pressure to work the liquid into the weakened fibres and fine cracks, keeping the coat thin.
Step 3: Allow to Dry and Build Up Thin Coats
- Allow the first coat to dry fully. The binder can dry at room temperature, or a hairdryer can be used to speed up drying.
- Apply a second thin coat using the same dabbing technique.
- Allow each coat to dry before applying another. Additional coats may be needed depending on the condition of the leather and the fine cracks being treated.
We recommend applying at least two thin coats. Let the final coat dry fully before continuing with the repair.
Step 4: Fill Remaining Cracks Where Required
Leather Binder can help with very fine surface cracks, but deeper cracks may still need filling after the leather has been strengthened.
Where required, apply a suitable filler such as Leather Crack Filler, following its application, drying and sanding instructions. Apply the binder before the crack filler.
Cuts, holes and tears may need additional repair materials, such as leather glue or a support patch. Contact us if you are unsure which repair method to use.
Step 5: Restore the Colour and Complete the Repair
Once the binder and any required filler are dry and the surface is prepared, restore worn or missing colour with a colourant suitable for your leather.
Follow the colourant’s application, drying and finishing instructions before returning the furniture to use. Leather Binder prepares and strengthens the leather; the remaining repair steps restore its surface and appearance.
