Essentials Leather Crack Repair Kit Instructions
To achieve a successful repair, follow the steps below in numerical order. Always start with step 1 1, 2.
Step 1 – Prep Wash
Spray over and around the repair area and wipe away any dirt, oils and other contaminants with the included lint free cloth, then allow to dry.
Step 2 – Trim
Trim away any frayed, loose or unwanted fibres.
Step 3 – Bond
Ensure the surfaces are dry. Apply glue to any raised edges or splits and bring them together. Hold the surfaces together until the glue has set. Using a hairdryer will help speed up the process. Before carrying out the next step, the glue must be left for a minimum of 24 hours to achieve the maximum hold.
Step 4 – Binder
For typical crack repair. Apply 3x thin coats to the cracked areas with the sponge, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. Use pressure to force the binder into the cracks. A hairdryer can be used to speed up the process.
For light cracks, apply more coats until the surface is level, allowing each coat to dry before applying the next. If all cracks are filled, proceed to step 8.
Step 5 – Crack Filler
A. Using the palette knife provided, apply thin coats of filler to fill the cracks. Allow to dry in between coats. For deeper cracks, apply filler until the desired levels are achieved. A hairdryer can be used to speed up the process.
B. Sand the areas level and smooth with the 600 grade grit paper.
Step 6 – Wipe Clean
Dampen the lint free cloth with water and wipe over the repair area then allow to dry.
Step 7 – Binder
Use either a cotton tip or the touch up sponge to dab, wipe or brush the colourant in thin even coats and fully dry in between each coat. Use a hairdryer to speed up the process.
Tip: feather the repair outwards during application as a final step and gently massage the area to relax the surface and blend in.
You must allow at least 14 days before using any cleaning or moisturiser products. Also note that you may experience slight colour bleed on the cloth when cleaning or moisturising. This is normal and can be expected for the first 2 or 3 uses.

- Pease note any use of our products will only be successful on a real leather or vinyl surface that is in fair/good condition, clean and free from contaminants such as oils, dirt and grime.
