Choose the Okin BS-17 for a basic single electric recliner with one or two actuators and low demand accessories such as USB-A port. It is best suited to lower-demand furniture where more frequent charging is acceptable..

Check Your Recliner Connections and Powered Features
Before purchasing, check your recliner’s features and plug type, as some model may not be compatible or require an adaptor or connection cable. If unsure, send us a message through our chat service or call us to discuss!
Battery runtime varies with actuator count and powered features such as USB ports, touch controllers and illuminated cup holders.
Note 12V and 240V features are not suitable and other features, including heating, massage, power points and some console functions, may still require mains power. Please contact us if you are unsure.
Setting Up, Charging and Using Your Recliner Battery
When your battery arrives, fully charge it until the LED illuminates green. In most cases, you can use the compatible AC/DC transformer already supplied with your recliner. If you do not have a suitable transformer, Sofa Rehab recommend the Mulin Adapter 2.0A (straight plug) charger click here to view.
Once fully charged, locate the recliner’s original AC/DC transformer and disconnect it from the recliner power lead. Connect the battery in its place using the push-fit plugs, along with any additional cables required for your furniture. Once connected, your recliner is ready to operate from battery power.
When recharging is required, you can eave the battery connected to the recliner if a power point is nearby, or remove the battery and place it near a power point for easier charging. Connect the compatible charger and recharge the battery until the LED illuminates green, then reconnect it to the recliner if it was removed.
Do It Yourself Cordless Recliner Freedom
Set up your recliner battery with simple plug-together connections and no specialist tools required. Once connected, your recliner can operate without being permanently connected to a wall socket, giving you more freedom with furniture placement and helping reduce loose power leads around the room. Battery Performance and Usage Guide
Please use this information as a guide only.
Battery life between charges will vary depending on the recliner, user, powered features and frequency of use. Fully charge the battery before first use and recharge it for approximately 8 hours when required. During storage or extended periods of non-use, the battery should be fully recharged at least once every 3 months.
Factors that may increase battery use include:
- Multiple actuators
- Headrest and lumbar functions
- USB charging ports
- Powered switches and controls
- Heavier users and larger furniture
- Frequent or repeated recliner operation
- Battery age and condition
- Temperature, moisture, dust and poor ventilation
The BS-17 provides approximately 200 reclines as a guide only. Actual performance may be higher or lower depending on the furniture configuration, user, frequency of use and battery condition.
Not Suitable for Battery Operation
The BS-17 is not suitable for recliners with heat or massage functions. Features requiring a separate 12V or 240V power supply will also not operate from the recliner battery.
Compatibility: Before purchasing, confirm that your recliner uses a compatible low-voltage system and connection. If you are unsure, contact Sofa Rehab with your furniture brand and model for assistance.

How to Install and Use Your Okin Refined BS-17 2550mAh Recliner Battery
- Fully charge the battery before first use.
Before using the battery to power your recliner, fully charge it using a compatible 29V to 35V AC/DC recliner transformer. Allow approximately 8 hours for a full charge. - Switch the recliner off at the wall.
Before disconnecting any plugs, switch the power point off and unplug the recliner’s existing AC/DC transformer from the wall. - Locate your existing AC/DC recliner transformer.
Follow the power lead from the recliner towards the wall and locate the AC/DC transformer. Check the transformer label to confirm it is suitable for charging the BS-17 and uses a compatible 2-pin OI connection. - Check whether your existing transformer is accessible.
On many electric recliners the transformer sits loose on the floor behind the furniture and can be easily disconnected and used for battery charging. On some recliners the transformer may be caged under the furniture or secured to the frame. - Remove a caged or frame-mounted transformer if required.
If your existing transformer is secured under the recliner and you want to use it for charging the battery, remove it from its mounting position and keep it accessible for future recharging. If you prefer to use a separate dedicated charger, Sofa Rehab can supply a suitable option. - Disconnect the recliner from the existing transformer.
Separate the transformer from the recliner at the 2-pin OI connection. Pull the plug housings apart rather than pulling directly on the cables. - Connect the BS-17 battery to the recliner.
Connect the matching 2-pin OI plug from the battery to the recliner’s power connection. Push the plugs fully together and make sure the connection is secure. - Install any additional leads if required.
Some recliners may require an adaptor, extension lead or other connection cable. Install any additional leads required for your furniture before operating the recliner. - Position or mount the battery safely.
The battery can be positioned behind or under the recliner where it is protected from moving parts, or secured using the supplied mounting bracket. Keep the battery accessible for recharging and do not position it where the recliner mechanism could crush the battery or damage the cables. - Operate the recliner from battery power.
Once connected, the recliner is ready to operate without remaining connected to the wall power supply. - Recharge the battery when required.
Disconnect the battery from the recliner and connect it to a compatible 29V to 35V AC/DC transformer. The battery can be recharged in position if the charging lead can safely reach a nearby power point, or removed and placed near a power point for easier charging. Allow approximately 8 hours for charging. - Reconnect the battery after charging.
Once fully charged, disconnect the transformer and reconnect the battery to the recliner using the 2-pin OI connection. - Recharge during periods of non-use.
If the battery is being stored or the recliner is not being used for an extended period, fully recharge the battery at least once every 3 months, regardless of use. - Use only with suitable recliner functions.
The BS-17 is intended for basic, low-demand electric recliners and is not suitable for heat or massage functions, or features that require a separate 12V or 240V power supply.

FAQs
FAQs
Will this connect to my electric recliner?
For this to work you need to already have the OI pin connector cable and the external standard 2.0A transformer adapter to charge the battery. Purchase these from our store. If you are just replacing the battery pack and therefore only need this battery and it plugs into the existing set up.
How long does it take to charge?
Approximately 8 hrs to fully recharge.
How long will the charge last?
This is very dependant on various contributory factors such as how heavy the furniture and user are, if any back lit LED switches, remotes with illuminated buttons or seat touch sensor buttons installed as these all draw continuous power from the battery and drain the charge. However we expect the battery to supply multiple reclines (approximately 250 cycles) but an exact number is not possible to determine.
Can I buy larger capacity batteries?
Yes, Sofa Rehab also stock 3950mAh and 6000mAh batteries for recliners.
If I do not have a Lithium Ion battery pack already can I use this one with my existing set up?
Yes, You can connect your original power supply to this lithium battery to charge it. Your current electrical set up needs to be the OI plug version.
Is this a reliable battery?
Yes, Being German made quality and reliability are assured.
How do I charge this lithium battery pack?
You connect a 2.0A power supply transformer to the furniture and wall socket to charge. You will normally already have this power supply if not you can purchase them from our store.
Can I run two recliners from this battery?
No, this battery is for single low-demand basic recliners. For twin recliner set ups use only the Sofa Rehab 6000mAh battery.
Will this work on a recliner lift chair?
No, this battery is not large enough to offer adequate storage of power for a lift and tilt recliner. For this type of chair use the 6000mAh battery from Sofa Rehab.
