How to Replace Your Okin Refined Recliner Power Brick
This tutorial explains how to replace the Dewert/Okin Refined JLDP.10.054.001 AC/DC power brick on a compatible electric recliner, lift chair, powered sofa or theatre lounge. This is a simple plug-and-play style replacement when the new power supply has the same rating and matching plug connections as your original unit.
Before You Start
Always disconnect the recliner from wall power before checking or replacing any power supply parts. Do not work on the chair while it is connected to mains power.
Before fitting the new power brick, compare it with your original transformer. The output rating should be 29.0V 2.0A, 58.0W, and the plug connections should match your existing OI 2 pin recliner plug and figure 8 / C8 wall power lead.
Step 1: Turn Off and Unplug the Recliner
Switch the power off at the wall socket and unplug the recliner power lead from mains power. If your recliner has a battery backup, disconnect or remove the battery backup before continuing.
Step 2: Locate the Existing Power Brick
Find the AC/DC power brick connected between the wall power lead and the recliner cable. It is usually located behind the chair, under the chair, or between the chair and the wall socket.
Step 3: Check the Label on the Old Power Supply
Read the label on your original power supply and confirm the important details. Look for the output rating, model or version number, and power details. This replacement is designed for compatible recliner systems using a 29.0V 2.0A output and matching plug connections.
Step 4: Disconnect the Old Power Brick
Unplug the figure 8 / C8 wall power lead from the old power brick. Then disconnect the OI 2 pin recliner plug from the furniture-side cable. If your old setup uses a retaining clasp or lock buckle, release it carefully before pulling the plugs apart.
Do not pull on the cable wires. Hold the plug body firmly and disconnect the plugs carefully to avoid damaging the connectors.
Step 5: Connect the New AC/DC Power Brick
Connect the figure 8 / C8 wall power lead into the new Dewert/Okin Refined power brick. Then connect the OI 2 pin recliner plug into the recliner-side socket on the power brick.
This version includes retaining clasp tabs for the recliner-side connection. Make sure the plug is seated firmly and the connection is secure before reconnecting the chair to wall power.
Step 6: Reconnect Wall Power and Test the Recliner
Plug the wall power lead back into the power socket and switch the power on. Test the recliner using the hand control or switch. The chair should operate normally if the power brick was the faulty part and the replacement is compatible with your recliner system.
Step 7: Check for Safe Cable Positioning
After testing the recliner, check that all cables are positioned safely. Keep cables away from moving recliner mechanisms, sharp metal edges and pinch points under the chair.
Make sure the power brick is placed where it will not be crushed, strained or pulled when the recliner opens and closes.
Need More Than Just the AC/DC Power Brick?
This tutorial covers replacement of the power brick only. If your wall power lead, recliner extension cable, Y splitter cable or lock buckle is missing or damaged, you may need additional parts to complete the repair.
Sofa Rehab stocks compatible recliner power supply cables, splitter leads and complete transformer sets for many electric recliners, lift chairs, powered sofas and theatre lounges.
Not Sure if This Is the Correct Replacement?
If your recliner still does not work after replacing the power brick, the issue may be with another part of the system, such as the hand control, actuator motor, extension cable, splitter cable, battery backup or internal wiring.
If you are unsure which part you need, send Sofa Rehab clear photos of your old power supply label, plug connections and any cables connected to the chair. We can help identify the correct replacement part for your recliner.
