Description
29V 2.0A Replacement Recliner Power Supply Transformer
This General AC/DC 2.0A Transformer is a replacement power supply for compatible electric recliner chairs, lift chairs, powered sofas and theatre lounges. It outputs DC 29V at 2.0A, with a 58W power rating, and uses the common 2 pin OI output plug with one round pin and one flat pin.
It is designed for recliners that use a matching 29V 2.0A transformer and push-fit 2 pin OI connection. This style of power supply is commonly used to power electric recliner mechanisms, lift chair actions and powered lounge seating where the transformer sits between the wall power cable and the chair’s low voltage power lead.
Check Your Transformer Label and 2 Pin OI Plug
Before ordering, compare the details on your original transformer label with this replacement. The most important details to confirm are the output voltage, output current and plug shape.
This transformer is suitable where your original power supply uses:
DC 29V output
2.0A output current
2 pin OI output plug
One round pin and one flat pin connector
Figure 8 power input socket
The plug shape is just as important as the electrical rating. Some recliner power supplies may look similar but use a different output plug, lock clip style or cable connection. If your old transformer uses the same 29V 2.0A rating and the same round pin plus flat pin OI connector, this replacement may be suitable.
Choose the Transformer Only or Add the Cables You Need
Order the power supply setup that suits your repair. If your original wall power cable and OI recliner extension cable are still in good condition, you can order the transformer by itself and reuse your existing cables.
Need more than just the AC/DC brick? Use the Power Cable and OI Cable dropdown options near the add to cart button to add the extras you need before checkout.
Depending on your repair, you may choose to add:
A figure 8 wall power cable if your mains lead is missing, damaged or unsafe
A 2 pin OI extension cable if the lead from the transformer to the recliner is damaged, crushed or too short
A 2 pin splitter cable if you need to power two compatible recliner actions from one transformer
A complete 3 piece set if you want the transformer, wall power cable and OI cable supplied together
This helps you avoid buying parts you do not need, while still giving you the option to complete the full power supply setup if your old cables are missing or damaged.
Compatible with Common 29V 2.0A Recliner Transformer Models
This General AC/DC 2.0A Transformer is suitable for many electric recliners, lift chairs, sofas and theatre lounges that use a 29V 2.0A power supply with the matching 2 pin OI plug.
Common compatible model numbers and styles include:
KDDY008B
KDDY001
KDDY008A
KDDY008C
SP2
SP2A
Similar 29V 2.0A recliner power supply units with the same 2 pin OI connection
Always compare your original transformer specifications and plug shape before ordering. Model numbers can vary between furniture brands, even when the power supply itself is functionally the same, so checking the label and cable connection is the safest way to confirm compatibility.
Easy Plug and Play Recliner Power Supply Replacement
Replacing a recliner transformer is usually a simple do it yourself repair. In most cases, no tools are required. Disconnect the old power supply, connect your existing or selected replacement cables, then plug the transformer back into your recliner and wall power.
Before fitting the new transformer, check your old cables for damage, loose connections, crushed sections or bent pins. A faulty cable can cause the same symptoms as a faulty transformer, so it is worth checking the full power path before deciding which parts to replace.
If the chair has no power, the remote is not responding, the transformer light does not turn on, or the recliner only works intermittently, the transformer or one of the connected power cables may be the cause.
Do It Yourself and Save Time and Money
A faulty power supply does not always mean your recliner needs an expensive service call. With the right replacement transformer and matching cables, many electric recliner power faults can be fixed at home in just a few minutes.
Order the transformer by itself if your cables are still good, or add the cables you need from the dropdown options to complete the repair in one order. How To Install Your Replacement Recliner Transformer
Before you start, turn the power off at the wall and unplug the recliner from mains power. Make sure the chair or lounge is in a safe position before accessing the power cables. If you need to move the furniture, use safe lifting techniques and get help if it is too heavy to move by yourself.
Pro tip: Take a quick photo of the existing transformer, wall power cable and OI cable connections before unplugging anything. This gives you a simple reference if you need to check how everything was connected.
- Locate the old transformer power supply under or behind your electric recliner, lift chair, sofa or theatre lounge.
- Turn off the wall power socket and unplug the figure 8 wall power cable from the power point.
- Disconnect the figure 8 power cable from the old transformer.
- Disconnect the 2 pin OI cable from the output side of the old transformer. This is the low voltage cable that runs from the transformer to the recliner.
- Check your existing cables for damage before reusing them. Look for crushed sections, loose plugs, bent pins, exposed wiring or signs of overheating. Replace any damaged cables before using the new transformer.
- Connect the figure 8 wall power cable into the input socket of the new transformer.
- Connect the 2 pin OI cable into the output socket of the new transformer. Make sure the round pin and flat pin line up correctly with the matching plug shape. Do not force the plug if it does not fit easily.
- Place the transformer in a safe position where it will not be crushed by the recliner mechanism, trapped under the chair frame or pulled tight when the recliner moves.
- Plug the wall power cable back into the power point and turn the power on.
- Test the recliner using the handset, switch or button control. Open and close the recliner fully while watching the cables to make sure they do not stretch, pinch or catch in the moving mechanism.
- If using a splitter cable for two compatible recliner actions, connect both OI leads securely and test each side separately before normal use.
Important: If the recliner still does not work after replacing the transformer, the fault may be with the wall power cable, OI extension cable, handset, switch, motor actuator or another electrical component. If you are unsure, contact us with photos of your old transformer label, plugs and cable connections so we can help you work out the next part to check.

FAQs
FAQs
How do I know if my recliner transformer is faulty?
A faulty recliner transformer may stop the chair from receiving power. Common signs include the recliner not moving, the remote or buttons not responding, the transformer light not turning on, or the chair working only sometimes. Before replacing the transformer, also check the wall socket, figure 8 power cable, OI extension cable and plugs for damage, loose connections or crushed wiring.
Does this recliner transformer come with the power cable and OI extension cable?
No, this product is supplied as the AC/DC transformer brick only, as shown in the product photos. If your existing wall power cable and 2 pin OI extension cable are still in good condition, you can reuse them. If you need replacement cables, select the add-on cable options near the add to cart button before checkout.
Will this 29V 2.0A transformer fit my electric recliner chair?
This transformer may fit your electric recliner, lift chair, sofa or theatre lounge if your original power supply has a DC 29V output, 2.0A output current and the same 2 pin OI plug with one round pin and one flat pin. Always compare the label on your old transformer and the plug shape before ordering.
What is a 2 pin OI plug on a recliner power supply?
A 2 pin OI plug is a common recliner power connector with one round pin and one flat pin. It is often used between the transformer and the recliner’s low voltage power cable. The plug shape must match your original cable, because some recliner transformers have similar power ratings but different connectors.
Can one transformer power two electric recliners?
A compatible 29V 2.0A recliner transformer can often be used with a 2 pin OI splitter cable to power two compatible recliner actions from one power supply. This is commonly used on twin recliner sofas and some theatre lounges. Always make sure your recliners use the matching 2 pin OI connection and that the cable layout will not be stretched, crushed or caught in the mechanism.
