Description
Twin-Motor Dewert Duomat 1B Bed Actuator 45402 – Plug-In Replacement
The Duomat 1B is a genuine Dewert double-drive unit that raises the head (87mm stroke) and foot (69mm stroke) sections of an adjustable or profiling bed. Both motors, the control electronics and the switched-mode power supply are housed in one sturdy aluminium chassis, keeping the under-bed area neat and cable-free. This build comes factory-wired with an AU/NZ 2-pin mains lead and accepts the standard 8-pin DIN handset plug used on many Australian and New Zealand electric bases.
Is This the Right Actuator for Your Bed?
- Check the rating plate for part number 45402 or model text “Duomat 1B-gr-87/69-10 kN”.
- Measure the closed pivot-to-pivot length (≈ 581mm) and confirm the 25 mm nylon bushes match your frame brackets.
- Make sure your handset plug is round 8-pin DIN. We also stock 5-pin versions and replacement handsets (click here).
- Match the strokes: 87 mm back, 69 mm foot. Other stroke codes need a different article number.
Still unsure? Send us a photo of your rating label and plug; our technicians will confirm compatibility before you order.

Step-by-Step Installation Guide – Dewert Duomat 1B Actuator
Before you begin: Disconnect the bed from mains power and make sure pets, children and trailing leads are clear of the work area. The Duomat weighs about 5 kg; have a second person on hand if you’re not confident lifting it safely.
- Photograph the original setup.
With the bed still assembled but unplugged, take a clear photo of the underside that shows the actuator pivots, cable routing and handset plug. It’s your visual “road map” when reconnecting the new unit. - Lower the bed to flat.
If the old actuator still responds, use the handset to flatten the mattress. If it’s completely dead, remove bedding and lift carefully until the frame is level. - Unplug everything.
• Wall socket (2-pin AU/NZ plug)
• Handset DIN plug (8 pins)
• Massage/LED accessories, if fitted
Coil the leads out of the way so they won’t snag during removal. - Support the mattress base.
Place sturdy blocks or timber under the moving sections so they can’t drop once the actuator pins are out. - Remove the two pivot pins.
Each end of the Duomat is held by a Ø25 mm bush on a cross-pin or circlip. Use a screwdriver/circlip pliers to ease the clips off, then slide the pins free. Keep them safe. - Lift out the old actuator.
Brace with both hands (or ask a helper) and lower it clear of the frame. Avoid twisting your back—lift with your legs. - Position the new Duomat.
Align the bushes with the frame brackets, matching the head/foot orientation shown in your reference photo. - Refit the pivot pins.
Slide each pin fully home and reinstall the circlips or R-clips. Check the actuator can hinge freely without side-load. - Reconnect the plugs.
• Push the 8-pin handset plug firmly into its socket (it will only line up one way).
• Attach any accessory leads.
• Route cables along the same path as before, using tie-wraps to keep them clear of moving parts. - Restore power and test.
Plug the 2-pin mains lead back into the GPO, make sure no cords are trapped, then operate the handset to cycle the head and foot sections through their full travel. Listen for smooth, quiet motion. - Final safety check.
Remove support blocks, replace bedding, and verify the bed returns to flat without obstruction. Job done—enjoy the comfort of a fully working adjustable base!
Tip: Keep the photo and your old actuator’s rating label for future reference. If anything feels too heavy or complicated, stop and seek help from a qualified technician.

FAQs
FAQs
Is this a genuine part?
Yes, this is a genuine Okin part, a Phoenix Mecano brand.
Will this actuator fit my adjustable bed frame?
Match three key points:
1, the rating label shows Dewert article 45402 (or at least the same stroke code: 87 mm head / 69 mm foot);
2, your frame uses 25 mm nylon pivot bushes and the closed “pin-to-pin” length is roughly 581 mm;
3, your handset plugs in via an 8-pin DIN socket. If all three line up, it’s a straight swap. Unsure? Snap a photo of the label and pivots and send it to our support team—we’ll confirm before you buy.
Do I need special tools or lifting equipment?
No specialist gear is required. A Phillips screwdriver or small circlip pliers will remove the pivot pins, and the unit weighs about 5 kg. If you’re not comfortable lifting that weight from beneath the bed, have a helper steady it. Always unplug the mains lead first and use blocks to support the frame sections while you work.
Where’s the transformer—do I have to hide a “black brick”?
You don’t need one. The Duomat 1B houses its own switched-mode power supply, so the hard-wired AU/NZ 2-pin lead plugs straight into a regular wall socket. Fewer cables mean a tidier install and one less component that can fail.
Is this a DIY-friendly job? What tools and time should I allow?
Absolutely. Remove the two axle pins (circlip pliers or screwdriver), unplug the handset and IEC lead, slide the old unit out, slide the new one in and re-pin—typically 10 minutes. No electrical skills, programming or voltage setting is required; everything is plug-and-play.
How do I check if my handset is the right type?
Unplug the handset lead from the old actuator and look at the round DIN plug. If you count eight metal pins arranged in a complete circle, you have the correct 8-pin version that suits this Duomat 1B. A 5-pin plug forms a half-moon shape with a gap—if that’s what you see, contact us because you’ll need the 5-pin variant instead.
